Since the headline isn’t saying it, they mean in the sense that they’re keeping anonymous.
I mean Toby Fox is pretty anonymous overall too. I don’t think it’s too unreasonable to want to keep your face out of it. Especially if this is your passion and want to keep that passion by lowering your chances of being recognized.

Remaining anonymous to the public as a user on the web is the norm, isn’t it? I don’t see why being an indie dev would make that an exception. Did this sentiment change in recent years?
