This post will probably get me flamed, but I want to know what people expected BDSP was going to be as it seems to me people felt like they were lied to even though the Pokemon Presents in 2021, which revealed BDSP outright told us that it would be a faithful remake of the originals and that nothing was being hidden.

These two statements should have been the immediate sign to fans that BDSP would not be a traditional remake like FRLG/HGSS or a revamped story like ORAS, especially after the SWSH dex cuts. It should have been expected that it would be a completely different route than what we have seen before, especially with Legends Arceus being the main highlight that The Pokemon Company and Gamefreak wanted to show off to the fans and broader gaming community. Also, having BDSP confirmed to be made by another studio instead of Gamefreak only.
Looking back, I never had a problem with BDSP as I enjoyed the original DP games, and I expected that the people who hated the originals would have the remakes as that is how most faithful remakes/remasters tend to go, not just with Pokemon, but with other franchises as well. I put hundreds of hours into BDSP (500+ hours) and enjoyed my time with the games before SV got announced and released.
I wonder what influence Illca's Yuichi Ueda had since Masuda wasn't the only one who was a director on the game, and we have seen that Masuda is willing to change a story and expand lore/gameplay as seen with the other eight generations prior to BDSP. Knowing his role could give insight into why BDSP might have taken the faithful route instead of the traditional remake route.
