Nintendo

I can’t be the only one that thinks Nintendo really dropped the ball here

This ZL button pretty much ensures this controller will feel terrible to use with anything that isn't strictly NSO. Maybe they did this no purpose to dissuade people from getting them just to use on PC, but I find that so aggravating. GC controller is my favorite ever, and I was praying that when they eventually did GC NSO that mirroring the Z button across to the left side would be a "no-brainer". I guess not.

I’m guessing they wanted to make it as accurate as possible to the original GameCube controller, but also without cutting down on features essential to a Switch 2. Same reason why the screenshot, home and C buttons are all stacked on top rather than placed next to the start button

  2. They probably just want the controllers to be as accurate as possible without modifying the layout, which is why all of the menu buttons are on the top instead of the front. Same with the N64 controller which has a tiny ZR button that’s only used to get to the save state menu

I don’t mind it. It’s meant to primarily used with GameCube NSO games which will have no use for the ZL button in game anyways.

I just wish they’d make them useable on an actual GameCube

Forgot how small that button is, definitely would be great if they considered increasing the button size to something more operable.

I want to agree but then the C stick should be changed to a regular style GC stick.

At least they have a button there!

  8. Saw how small the ZL button was and shook my head so much. 3rd party manufacturers have done it right before too cmon Nintendo

what kinda psychopath makes the z buttons tiny ☠️

I really wanted to concept version. If anyone ever gets to interview Nintendo, they should ask about this!

  11. and what about analog triggers, R3 and L3? any information?

Do people actually use a GameCube controller for anything other than GameCube games and Smash Bros? If the game is not specifically made in mind for the GC controller, the Pro Controller is feels much better.

The key thing is the main shoulder buttons being analogue, I think I saw somewhere they are?

The 3rd party ones are digital, and for some things like Smash that makes a huge difference.

I only wish the D-pad was bigger because, let’s be honest, it’s a dinky little nub.

Not really. Most people will probably only use it to play GameCube games and that button doesn’t exist on GCN games. They want to leave it as authentic as possible.

When playing GC games, you’d probably be annoyed hitting that button by accident since it doesn’t exist in GC land. So having it small reduces the chance of hitting it by accident.

Maybe wait to try it first? You might be right, but let’s at least try it first.

“This GameCube controller replica is too close to an actual GameCube controller!!” 😡

They will have really dropped the ball if it doesn’t have analog triggers.
