Tantalizingly for fans of a certain bear and bird, Paul Yan said the team would be eager to tackle a franchise long dormant, long missed by many Nintendo and Xbox fans alike. When CGE asked which studio Toys for Bob would love to work more with, Creative Director Paul Yan offered a scenario we certainly hope Microsoft is listening to.
"One company we'd like to work with is one we're already working with — Team Xbox! They've been a great partner and they also have a very interesting roster of characters that Toys for Bob could have a lot of fun with. The honey bear is the first one that comes to mind — I think we can all agree Banjo's been hibernating long enough, right?"
Phil Spencer previously said "we hear you" referring to Banjo-Kazooie in previous comments. So far, a game has yet to materialize, with the last entry in the franchise emerging back in 2008. Smash Bros fans broke the internet (or, at least Twitter) when Nintendo and Microsoft revealed Banjo-Kazooie for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Call me when “I’d like to” becomes “Am actively doing it” because i’m so tired of getting my hopes up for this franchise.
If it’s anything like Spyro Reignited, sign me up. I had so much fun playing that game. I’ll take a Banjo 1-2-Remakie
I hate articles like this.
I think just about any studio at Microsoft would say they’d “like to” make a Banjo Kazooie in an interview if asked.
Could you imagine anyone saying “Nah, Banjo Kazooie isn’t interesting to us.”
Given that not even being put into Smash Bros via fan’s annoyance, was enough to gather interest into getting a new game.
I’ll smash hard on x to doubt.
Just imagine a third party making a game of a Microsoft IP releasing as a timed Nintendo exclusive and later on Sony as well.
A remake of the original Banjo Kazooie has low-key been one of my all-time video game wishes, along with a Chrono Trigger remake and Link’s Awakening remake.
We got one of those. Chrono Trigger has been long rumored. I’m not sure if my Banjo-Kazooie wish will ever happen. But it would be a great way to gague how much interest there is in potentially making a new one.
Don’t give me hope. It’ll only result in pain and disappointment with these companies.
Microsoft is so fucking stupid. They saw the insane hype for Smash and wasted the opportunity to do anything.
I thought they didn’t exist anymore. I think I’m mistaking them for vicarious visions. Either way that would be interesting.
It’s been about 8.5 years since the last console Skylanders release. Eventually we have to start calling them something besides “Skylanders studio”. 😛
They did absolutely phenomenal job with Crash 4, tho i dont think the studio is the same right now.
toys for bob needs to remaster Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
These guys nailed the Crash and Spyro remakes, can’t imagine a better company to take up this project (meaning it will never happen because Banjo fans can’t have nice things lol)
Just as long as it isn’t that Nuts and Bolts crap.
Let them remake the original two N64 games likenl they did Spyro
Please no. Banjo Kazooie was always amazing because it wasn’t aimed at only children and was just timeless fun and Skylanders genuinely is awful if you’re over the age of like 10.
I laughed when MS bought Rare and decided the best decision for Banjo Kazooie was Nuts & Bolts. Such a horrid game.
After playing south of midnight, I’ve got the itch for platformer games. Would love it if TFB remade banjo 1 and 2 as a singular adventure so they can incorporate the stop and swap features that were originally intended. Would likely mean rethinking the storyline a little, but I think it would be a great start for Xbox getting some fun platformer adventures back.
And while they’re at it, I’ve also been waiting for a follow up to Conker, although I doubt we’ll ever get that. Fyi, I don’t consider project spark a follow up. I think Conker would be a good competitor to ratchet and clank franchise. Ratchet and clank was partially inspired by Conker, and I think a mature platformer is perfect for Xbox if they can just find the right team to do it.
Sounds neat.
