[Lyndom Region] The Inflatable Horrors…

Dex Entries:

Deepwun, the Sea Ghost Pokémon. Deepwun were thought to be water-type Pokémon for many years until a scientist discovered their true nature. That scientist was never seen again.

Shuggoth, the Sea Ghost Pokémon; evolves from Deepwun at Lv 25. The silly, flailing movements of Shuggoth's arms may appear funny at first glance but they are actually a predatory dance to deceive prey attracted to movement.

Gummibozu, the Sea Ghost Pokémon; evolves from Shuggoth when given the Elder Jelly. Gummibozu's bright colors and bouncy, balloon-like exterior are attractive to baby Pokémon. Gummibozu tolerates the young Pokémon using it as a playground until it gets hungry.

Origins: Deepwun and Shuggoth's names and appearances reference the Deep Ones and Shoggoths from the Cthulu Mythos created by New England-born author H.P. Lovecraft. Gummibozu's name comes from gummies and the Yokai creature known as an Umibozu. Despite all of these being horrifying creatures, I wanted to make them deceptively silly-looking by using bright colors in the vein of toys for babies and young children. Shuggoth is meant to slightly resemble a wacky arms inflatable man, and Gummibozu has aspects of a bouncy castle.
