I saw the 1TB Micro SD Express cards in stock last night for a good while. I kinda regret not buying it then and there since it was sold out today. Lesson learned for next time I guess.

  2. Desperate_Cucumber_9

    I’m waiting for Samsung/SanDisk. I don’t trust Lexar enough.

  3. Lucambacamba

Scalpers, a possible global recession, and people trying to get ahead of the scalpers.

  4. barbietattoo

Absolutely the last thing on my list to buy regarding switch 2

  5. sweetcinnamonpunch

The only thing I couldn’t find anywhere, but since I’m almost all physical, I guess I can wait.

  6. bobombking

i dont need the cards just yet. all i want is my dearly beloved mario kart world and i will be happy until the next 3d mario comes out

  7. AtomicBLB

People are wild. But then again I added 500gb to my Steamdeck the week I got it despite not filling the main storage yet. I’ll use that space *eventually*.

  8. Hot_Cheese650

The switch 2 have more than enough internal storage for a while before the new SD express cards are needed. Just wait a few years and the price will come down.

  9. This is absolutely not the right way to read the situation. These Micro SD Express cards are basically in extremely limited supply because there’s almost no use case for them. That’s all. It’s not that Switch 2 is so popular that millions are hoarding these sd express cards.

  10. neodraykl

Never buy storage you don’t need RIGHT NOW. Either prices will go down, or something faster will come out.

  11. smackythefrog

I think they’re being bought up to be scalped. I’d have to check price history like Camel3x but if we know scalpers…..

  12. 1. It’s probably mostly scalpers

    2. No one knew what a microSD express was until 2 weeks ago lol

  13. QuizMasterX

Storage on release is enough for me as I’m only interested in only a few games the first year. And still have a slew of switch 1 titles that still need playing

  14. Those with a backlog as long as mine don’t need any SD card.

  15. SilverThaHedgehog

Popularity is irrelevant when scalpers are the only ones trying to get the pre orders.

Every person given an opportunity to “test” the system has been someone who gets their pockets filled by playing these systems.

You all have fun. I’ll wait.

  16. Doubt I will need one anytime soon since the starting storage size is pretty good. Probably get one later when express is cheaper and bigger games are on the switch 2.

  17. I managed to get an order in on a 256 Sandisk Express to double the switch’s data effectively, but its stuck on “order received”, but it did let me check out with it at the time. I did swarm to amazon right after the direct though.

  18. luckyvonstreetz

The switch 2 comes with 256 gb of storage so I’m not gonna need that microSD card, maybe after a couple of years.

  19. I’m not gonna get FOMO’d here, 256 is plenty for the first few months-year with how small Nintendo games are and my physical preference, SD cards go down in price fast, so I’m not worried.

  20. ImissedZeraora

That doesn’t say much unless you know the amount sold… Stock could’ve been 500.

  21. RaichiSensei

Wonderful! Here’s hoping console release isn’t gonna sell out.

  22. GrimmTrixX

I hope everyone is buying Micro SD Express cards and not regular Micro SD cards because they won’t work on Switch 2. Just the express ones.

  23. navHelper

How much of this is people also trying to get ahead of tariffs?

  24. pisomojado101

Misleading title. MicroSD Express cards are selling out. There haven’t been many of those produced to begin with.

  25. ShoppingAfter9598

Good thing I bought my 1.5tb that I use for my ROG Ally X a long time ago!

  26. EmmaNielsen

Some people are 100 % digital only. My steamdeck has 4tb and i use a lot of it.

I’ve 0 physical switch games, i think i bought over 20 game vouchers throughout the years.

tbh I wanted an express card, but i found out that they don’t make 2tb yet. at best it’s 1 tb. so i’ll wait.

  27. Cyndakill88

This is where the scammers are trying to get a pound of flesh. Buy up the storage upgrade for a massive markup on price

  28. lmao betting already many just buy standard MicroSD’s while the switch 2 needs MicroSD Express cards

  29. trumparegis

But reddit and xitter told me that the console and its library was way overpriced and it would flop like the Wii U? Almost as if Nintendo hires statisticians to accurately price their products based on factors such as IP value and demand

  30. superyoshiom

I’ve got a PC so I pretty much exclusively use my Switch for first-party games, which are pretty small. So I doubt I’ll be needing this.

  31. thedinobot1989

I mean they’re selling out because they’re about to get even more expensive

  32. brandont04

The new cards are too expensive. 512gb is shown for $100. Definitely waiting for prices to drop.

  33. Dreyfus2006

Man I hate “gaming journalism.” A proper title should be “MicroSDs in low supply due to demand for Nintendo Switch 2.”

  34. smitherenesar

You should update the title to say “MicroSD Express”. Nobody knew what that was until a couple weeks ago

  35. VonTreece

I was trying to get one and then realized the 250gb sd included is plenty to get me started. Pricing should go down and availability up in the future.

  36. Bidoof2017

Ain’t no way there’s gonna be enough stock to meet demand. Scalpers gonna scalp. $450 USD with no game included. I’m good, I’ll wait

  37. ultraMightydillo

eh i don’t think i will get it anytime soon

  38. In the article it says traditional micro sd cards work, witch is wrong. Dumbasses needed to get there info straight.

  39. GamingOdditiez

I had my eye on micro sd express a few months back after hearing a rumour switch 2 would be using them. At that time SanDisk express 256gb was £75.

I ordered one after the direct for £70 and it said 1 to 2 weeks shipping. And in that time, I managed to get an order for the same card for £49 and a pre-order for the nintendo branded one for 49.99.

I’ve cancelled my original and I’ll get the £49 or nintendo branded one… both are showing they now won’t ship until launch or around launch, so whatever comes first.

But the real reason I say this is to show that these actually have come down in price over the last few months, I’m not sure how much cheaper they will be before I run out of system space so might be better to grab one just to be safe if you think you’ll run out within a couple of weeks or months.

  40. ParticularAd4371

hmmm, so if you were a scalper right now, and your thinking to yourself “well if i can’t get hold of some switch 2’s, how else can i make some money from this?”

Buying up storage cards on bulk would probably be the next best thing right?
I’m not saying Switch 2 won’t be popular at launch, but i just think there might be other reasons as to why microsd cards are rapidly selling out…

  41. Zetaro_Angelwing

I’m only getting a switch 2 for my mother and she’s really only gonna play Mario kart world. She MIGHT play a few of the other games but that’ll be in the far future and by then there’ll be plenty of microSD cards.

I’m completely fine with others getting them for people who are planning on getting multiple games. 👍👍👍

  42. I actually bought an sd card along with xenoblade X for my main switch and or switch 2 when I get it. So I guess I was ahead of the curve 🥺

  43. grounndhog101

I thought they weren’t necessarily “rapidly selling out” it was more of a “we don’t have a big supply of these”
