It’s not like anyone will buy it anyway

  2. Rule 1 of buying Ubisoft games: never buy Ubisoft games when they come out.

I think we need to somehow pass a message.

Not buying, but then also make it clear why we aren’t buying.

Not surprised as PS5 and Xbox Series X physical versions require an Internet connection to install

I could be off but nintendo doesn’t understand how much of a big deal this is.

They cover a niche with switch having cartridges and an emphasis on physical games. Many people that have a switch also have a pc or a playstation and buy on switch basically just because they like it. The switch 2 having decent performance in third party games has a chance to do what was previously unusual and push people that have other means of playing to get third party games on the switch if the performance is comparable.

But if these games are code in a box and require 100 GB of space to run, while also running a bit worse and being a little more expensive, it’s a lot harder to make the choice to buy on switch. All the appeal is gone. Might as well get on steam or ps store at that point.

  6. Anyone knows if this will have cross saves with other platforms through Ubi account ?

One interesting thought I have is say these things go digital of course they’re gonna be digital but like if the digital version goes eighty percent off like to be soft is like to do what’s gonna happen to the game key card version is it still going to be sixty bucks.

  8. this game is roughly 50GB on all platforms, so this is entirely on ubisoft for choosing the game key card.

cyberpunk is 64gb on switch2 and has the entire main game+the dlc on the cartridge, so ubisoft got no excuses here.

nintendo should have really forced these third parties to put their game on cartridge if they dont exceed 64gb

It sounds like pretty much every non-Nintendo game is going this way.

I do not plan to buy a single game key card game.

Let’s be honest, was anyone surprise it would be a game key card?

  12. People overreact so much. A lot of games even on Switch are already barely playable in the state on the card and need at least a day 1 patch.

This at least makes it able to sell them on the secondhand market.

Nintendo was the only one not doing this so at least be happy it lasted as long as it did.

  13. Animegamingnerd

Yeah this one aint shocking since even on Playstation and Xbox it requires a download.

  14. skylorface

Is this all we’re going to talk about for the next couple of years?

  15. spinzaku97

Stuff like Just Dance has already been download only codes for years. There was no chance in hell that they were going to shell out money for proper game cards.

  16. Ubisoft, I was already boycotting all your games. You don’t need to release on game key cards.

  17. grilled_pc

Not even remotely shocked by this lol.

Always wait for ubi games to be discounted heavily. Only takes 6 months lol.

  18. Didn’t expect anything different. They’ve been doing pretty much the same on the other consoles since their games aren’t playable from the disc without day 1 patch. Still disappointing nonetheless

This is gonna be the new thing you guys endlessly bitch about now, isn’t it?

  20. TurnaboutAdam

This really isn’t surprising. It’s games like Bravely Default and Tetris that shouldn’t be key cards.

  21. psycho-batcat

Oh cool the next generation Switch and we’re looking forward to PS5 leftovers still but at a premium price Hurrayyyyyy

  22. Jandre999

Of course it is! Ubisoft the most pro consumer company of all time!

  23. I can safely say that in future most of the third party games will be either download code in a box or a game key card 😱 LOL very sad 😔 Nintendo is a gone case from this generation onwards 😂 I believe the system 256 GB is laughable because if you don’t buy the Express SD card, you will need to delete, install every time you want to play your favourite game 😱🤬

  24. Woah, the fan boy army is out in full force today.
