Nintendo

What the name *Nintendo* ๐™–๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™–๐™ก๐™ก๐™ฎ means

Many videos and articles online exert that the name of Nintendo was inspired by Japanese gambling practices or even the Yakuza. While the early Nintendo's connection to gambling does of course have truth to it, the history behind the company's name goes back much further.

I took a look at Japanese commerce and industry registries dating back to the 19th and early 20th century and found out that there were in fact plenty of businesses called *Nintendo* (using exactly the same characters as the Nintendo we know, ไปปๅคฉๅ ‚) that had absolutely nothing to do with gambling.

Have a look at the video if you'd like to know where the name in all likelihood really came from!
