Solved: it links back to the nintendo today app but doesn’t actually open it which is kinda weird
So I just went onto Nintendo’s website and at the top I saw a placeholder IOS app banner (https://imgur.com/a/Yv538D2 – link to the screenshot). This banner usually means there’s an app related to the website on the App Store or there is one in development. This could either mean they’re working on a new dedicated Nintendo app, are trying to link one of their pre existing apps like switch online or Nintendo today or it could just be a bug. Can anyone else see this or is it just me? because if other people can see it that means it’s probably not a bug.
Edit – some people have suggested it may link to the switch online app when it gets rebranded to the switch app which is most likely what it is
Edit 2 – after looking through the websites code I found a section that has a link to id6736725704 on IOS and com.Nintendo.znsa on the play store. These both link back to the Nintendo today app!

Did they not just drop a new Nintendo app in the last few weeks?
The nintendo switch online app is being updated they has announced it a bit ago
Seems like an ad banner that was blocked by an ad-blocker.
Nintendo already has multiple apps, including one specifically for Nintendo Switch Online. Seems unlikely that they’d make another and hide it like this.
I’m on Android + Chrome and I got an “Install Nintendo” Play Store app banner. I clicked it but it just opened the Play Store to an error.
I believe the Nintendo Switch Online App is being rebranded to just the Nintendo Switch App
I’m curious – what region is this, or what page was this? The NA homepage looks similar, but there’s no hamburger menu or wishlist on there, at least on my phone.
Typically, you can go into dev tools and see what ID the app is trying to link to. This is interesting!
