I’ve been playing since Gen 1 was first released. I could never pick a favorite Pokémon as none really spoke to me. I always felt envious of people with a favorite. They had merch to collect, cards to hunt for, posters to put up. But not me.
Then I saw the beta sprites for the Tangela line that we never got. There was a swelling of immense joy and bittersweet sadness deep in my soul. Monja and Jaranra speak to me so friggin hard!!! I would collect all the merch if they were real. But I’ll never be able to and it sucks. It’s like being in love with someone who will never love you back.
It’s been years since I first saw the beta sprites, but I still think about these lil’ dudes in the reg. I guess Tangela is my “official” favorite, but if the beta line were real, it would easily be Monja. The whole line is just so perfect!
Any chance Pokemon Co. Will ever make them real? Could we convince them? Please? 🥺
