Isn’t this done every game that might have purchasable content, like DLC?
I doubt they’ll have micro transactions.

This might be for if you dont have NSO and try to do something online, a popup shows up in game that prompts you to subscribe. A lot of Switch games have this I believe

Splatoon 3 has the “in game purchases” label. In that case, I think that’s about the in-game capsule machine that runs off the game’s fictional currency that you earn by playing the game. It’s not currency you can buy/add with real life money. I don’t expect micro transactions for DK Bonanza since Nintendo has, so far, avoided them for their AAA games.
Digibutter64
It could be some sort of online functionality, which would require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Idk if the rating applies to cloud backup, but it could be that.

NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition also having one so I think it could also mean IAP NSO sub for online feature too
Has nothing to do with DLC. It’s just something they put on games with online interaction.

Donkey Pass?!

Imagine €80 game with micro transactions

You can purchase Kong-Koins™ to obtain in-game outfits as part of the Banana Pass™ (timed-exclusive cosmetics will not return after their obtainable period has ended.)

So did Mario Party cuz of Online Costing Money and cuz they probably all have Game Chat feature every nintendo game will have that rating now
Tenziru
you need nintendo online to interact it leaderboards this is what is means.
BluebomberV
It’s bananza to think they might want more money.
TheRigXD
This is done for every game that has online multiplayer. Because there’s an option to renew an NSO subscription from within the game, it is considered an in-app purchase.

Mario kart and donkey kong will have dlc, this really need to be said?
SnooCakes2443
The way things have been progressing I wouldn’t be all that surprised by mt’s…
MonkeyPunchIII
Just has to do with that « stupid » chat functionality

For $80 can they not just… finish the single player game before releasing it.. had the idea for the Content and thought it was such a good addition to the game ya took it out to sell back as DLC later? Like the game isn’t even out yet we are talking about buying more stuff lmao.
JmanProds
Pretty much any game with online functionality has that, since it brings you to the eShop to buy Switch Online if you don’t have it. Same thing happened with Mario Wonder.

Could be NSO related as well, not sure if there’s any online component.

Prolly skins. It’s a bummer to see Nintendo going down the path that they are.

Any game with the smallest amount of online interactivity even like leaderboards [like in Bayonetta 3](https://www.esrb.org/ratings/38678/bayonetta-3/) have that in game purchases thing. [Mario Wonder has it too](https://www.esrb.org/ratings/39495/super-mario-bros-wonder/)
