The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a below-average display that fails to deliver an acceptable HDR experience, according to a new in-depth analysis.
My experience with the display has been great. Though I do think the OLED panel has a different pop and crisper darks. I don't mind the new panel and I love the 120hz.

So do they also think pc monitors suck? This is around the same brightness of most ips panels. They’re crying over nothing.

I’m not going to bother reading the article. But I can say coming from the Steam Deck and ROG Ally screens, I have no complaints on the Switch 2 screen. Sure OLED would be nice, but they didn’t pick a bad display.

If you want to see the world’s loveliest HDR – watch Mario Kart World footage on a 2021 or later MacBook Pro. The ones with the miniLED screens peaking at 1600 nits. It’s glorious – but that screen alone probably cost more than the Switch 2 in entirety.

If you need “in-depth analysis” to determine that the thing you can see with your eyes isn’t “acceptable” then I think that just tells you it’s fine.
If you look at it and go “wow that looks bad” that’s a problem. But if you think it looks good, and some guy has to pull out his microscope and say “well actually…” then who cares.

I think this is one of those things that is actually true and you’re gonna get bashed online for bringing it up.
Ultimately tho, it doesn’t really matter if the HDR is of mediocre quality because for 95% of people, they don’t care or won’t even notice.
