Video that tests the framerate and resolution of unpatched games that previously ran poorly on Switch 1.
In summary, the framerate reaches its cap in most of them, but the dynamic resolution doesn't increase automatically. That will need a patch.

Bayonetta and Astral Chain needs a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade.
1440p/60fps would be transformative. Bayonetta 3 even without a dedicated upgrade runs so much better.
Frames of Calamity running better!!!!
Hey, at least most games run better, smoother and faster. That’s a win.
It would be nice if all games got an upgrade for Switch 2 though.
I need those Xenoblade upgrades. Please, Nintendo.
I’d take the comment regarding dynamic resolution with a grain of salt – his comparison point is Xenoblade 2 handheld, and the shots he shows clearly shows the Switch 2 looking a little sharper.
It just still looks like ass because even in a best-case scenario Xeno 2 looks awful handheld, thanks to the 540p maximum resolution and the terrible sharpening filter.
Fingers crossed that Monolith is working on a patch for the Xenoblade games, especially for resolution in handheld.
What about the resolution on portable mode? 720p or 1080p? The doubt is killing me.
DF showed dynamic resolution scaling looking much better in The Witcher 3 on Switch 2, so I’m not sure what’s going on with Xenoblade. I hope that’s something they can patch.
Princess Peach Showtime looks and runs much better.
Well, that’s certainly good news!
I hope the gta trilogy gets a graphics update, looks a little bit blurry to me on my switch 2
From a development perspective how hard is it to give these switch 1 games the upgrades? I tested out all my old games on switch 2 yesterday and the visual difference is noticeable when going from an upgraded one to not.
Example: HW Age of Calamity runs smoother, but appears to still be locked to 30fps at from what I can tell 540p.
What people have to understand, is that barely any developers got development kits from Nintendo before the launch of Switch 2 –they had no possibility to patch their games. I’m sure a lot of patches are on the way now as these devs probably want to keep selling their games for S2 owners.
can any one test astral chain and lmk if its smoother?
Well, at least Bayo 3 has been addressed, and Age of Calamitiy reaching the 30 FPS cap for a constant 30 is good to know, but it’s still criminal that it’s stuck below a 60 FPS for a Warriors game. Here’s hoping Omega Force releases an upgrade for it down the line.
Is it too much to asl to get an uograde on Animal Crossing and Smash?
