Hi everyone!
I’m going to my first ever collectors event in July (Collect-a-Con New Jersey) and had a few questions. Thank you in advance! Pic of my newest D.R. pull for attention 🖤

Do people cosplay? I saw on the website that it’s allowed, but in most videos I’ve seen everyone is in regular clothes…I don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb haha

As we all know (and are feeling the effects of), scalpers are running rampant and prices across the board are being jacked up. How are the vendors here? Is market price realistic or should I be preparing to get taken for a ride? Are there certain vendors to stay away from or others that I should definitely visit?
-
I want to get a new binder while I’m here. What are some brands you guys recommend? The only one I’m familiar with is VaultX…Additionally, will there be booths for binders, sleeves, accessories, etc?
-
Can I trade with raw cards or are vendors only interested in graded material?
-
What website/app are you using to check market prices? I’ve been using TCGPlayer
Please feel free to drop any advice you may have. I’m super excited for this event and want to have all the information I can going in to it..Thanks again!

All I can say is be prepared to negotiate.

You can expect market price, and should look at another booth if one you’re at is charging over market. That being said, many vendors have huge inventory that they can’t update prices for regularly. So if you see a card that’s over market, you should ask to see if they can match market price (TCGPlayer most commonly used to determine market). Most vendors I deal with have no problem coming down to market price.
Yes, trading with raw cards is normal. Some vendors may prefer graded, and some may prefer raw. One thing to keep in mind is that vendors may only be after specific things. I’ve seen plenty of people at shows who feel like vendors need to accept any cards put up for trade, when really it’s up to the vendor to decide what they want to take. For example, some vendors may not want a bunch of cheap bulk in a trade, even if the value ends up being somewhat even.
