It would be cool instead of full dlc like people are suggesting for every big release they just do a character and a kart.
I doubt they will make a new DLC for every game they make but potentially can imagine like a hyrul island or something or a Metroid thing.
But for most games it would be cool if you buy it you get the main character in Mario kart.

Not surprising. Non-Mario characters likely only happened in MK8U because the company was struggling and needed any source of revenue they could find, and those characters carried over to MK8D because the assets were already made and they didn’t want the remake to seem like a downgrade for people who cared about those characters
If they wanted the series to slowly expand into a Nintendo series instead of a Mario series, they’d have given us at least 1 new non-Mario character in MK8D

There are so many games in the Mario universe that still haven’t been represented yet. Give me Paper Mario characters! Treasure trove of unused stuff.

I think people need to take into consideration the original Mario Kart 8 was on Wii U and it’s very possible they were desperated for any type of attention. Inkling being added to Deluxe was a good way to promote the upcoming Splatoon 2, when the franchise was still very new.
I’m not against crossovers, you not gonna see me complain if they added worlds based on other franchises but I think the expectation to turn Mario Kart into Smash is unrealistic.
I quite like the addition of NPC enemies.

At least Donkey Kong characters like Diddy, Dixie and Cranky would have been fine considering they always put DK in the game.
In fact, I think the perfect DLC would be a map of Donkey Kong Island.

I mean, they’ve added a bunch of Mario NPC and enemy characters, but there’s still plenty of unique characters to pick from, from Donkey Kong, Wario & Mario RPG series and even a couple from Luigi series.

My only complaint is they made the roster look bigger than it is by making skins separate characters.. all these should be in a drop menu like how you can pick different color Yoshi in 8, but of course Nintendo gonna Nintendo. Can’t move forward without breaking something else.

Sure, it isn’t necessary but when you leave them out after adding them to the previous game, then obviously the roster isn’t going to be as impactful.
Everyone wants Nintendo to lean more into ‘Nintendo Kart’, so how about you do it, not because it’s necessary, but because it’s fun and will likely generate even more sales.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I’m still disappointed they excluded Link. I get it, they’re focusing primarily in the Mario world but would’ve been nice to see good ‘ol Link in a race kart
