I think Nintendo should give up the idea of being able to play with half of a controller and gives us normal looking controllers instead. (But that can still
I personally think that the controller's shape has annoying compromises for a feature that is useful only for a specific moment.

Isnt this why they supply the joy con grip?

Any third party can use the magnetic controller so you can theoretically get one like that. Wasn’t that the purpose of the hori split pad pro?

OP just wants to play Mario Kart on PS Portal.

No. The shareable Joycons are something that I use a ton with friends and it’s integral to the Switch’s identity and marketing.

I think you need to add to your cons for your redesigned controller. If people want to play couch multiplayer games (i.e. Mario Party), they need to buy another controller. With the current design, there’s a second controller built in! It’s not just for ease of transport.

Sounds like more of a you problem

A pro-con list comparing something real to something imaginary is very weird.

It may not be useful *a lot to you, or me, but it is useful for a lot of people. Especially families and kids.

That shape makes the console horrendous to take anywhere- it’s weirdly shaped, long, and double as thick. The Switch 2 isn’t exactly a Gameboy Micro as is, this would just make it impossible to fit in a bag with anything else and turn it into effectively a “house or suitcase” console only. Plus a lot of people do actually use the single joycon control scheme. The console is fine, just use the supplied grip.

Brother, just get a Hori split pad

Good thing 3rd parties will make controllers like these. There were some made for Switch 1, so there will eventually be some made for Switch 2

They should atleast have 2 versions. I personally dont mind the split controller and have had good time with the mini version (specifically for switch sports), but I totally understand. Those puppies can cramp

I think you miss that the switch being everything g to everyone and semi competent in all modes is THE single greatest contributor to its success.

I disagree. Buttttt I think it’s a great idea for the pro controller.

The split joycons being able to be two players is kind of one of the main selling points. The whole fun part of the portable aspect is being able to play games like mkw or smash with a friend straight out of the box, this would completely kill the idea of multiplayer on the go.

I love it as it is

Ps Portal its a worse switch 2 and its not even close

There’s third parties that do this like the Hori pad. I think Nintendo’s version is most versatile. Playing with half a controller in a pinch is always an option some switch users want to have, even if you don’t.

I’ve seen switch normal looking controllers on Amazon just get one of those, surely just hooking it up to Bluetooth will work.

No, the fact the Switch is the only console that you can play counch multiplayer out of the box, without the need of buying an extra controller, it’s amazing.
