According to research dwebble of Kanto region has experienced some kind of fungal infection that took over their species. The remaining healthy specimens were signed to get infected about 10 years ago.
The study says that the true body of this Pokemon is the mushroom itself. The Crustle's moves are stuff and jagged, which confirms this theory.
