First I'll talk about how I obtained the games and the Manaphy Eggs, if you aren't interested in reading all that, simply keep scrolling until you hit a 4 sentence gap.
Pokémon Ranger Shadows of Almia was my very first nintendo DS game, I bought it at the store when I was like 7 years old, together with my dad.
Skip a some years (15 years old) and I still loved it, however I felt like I NEEDED the other games to complete my set and get the full experience.
So after a bit of searching I find Pokémon Ranger and Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs for €10 and €15 respectively, case and all books (from the case) included!
I go to the seller, test at the front door and leave with a very satisfying purchase.
Finished all the games and gave em a place in my heart.
Skip some years again (22 years old) and Im reading into the DS wifi exploit; getting old events on your system by simply connecting to an open wifi network and changing some stuff in your private settings.
I go scrolling through the Pokémon event list, searching for a target, when I stumble upon Manaphy.
I knew Shadows of Almia had a Manaphy event and Pokémon Ranger has one, but it was news to me when I read that Guardian Signs also had one, more than that, that Ranger didn't need any event for it, it was on the game itself!
I read 'Only 1 per gamecard' and am like "I'll check it for fun but it's probably already gone".
Well, you've read the title so u probably know what happened;
All 3 games, my new bought as well as my second hand ones all STILL had the Manaphy on it, untouched.
The first game by just opening it up and checking extra quests
The second and third game by bringing the neighborhood library a visit and borrowing their open wifi network, using it for the exploit.
So that brings up the following question, how many of these can I call Legit?
Pokémon Ranger has it on the gamecard itself, so that one is 100% legit.
But what about Almia and Guardian Signs?
I bought Almia myself so I had it during the time the event ran and simply didn't know, as an 8 year old, how events worked.
So can I call it legit now that I got it from "the event" I missed, using the exploit?
And Guardian Signs?
If Almia would be legit because of me owning the game already at the time of the event, would that make Guardian Signs its Manaphy illegitimate because I got the game after the event already ended for it? (because I got the game second hand)
Or can I call all 3 legit because of still needing to own and fully finish the Ranger games in order to even unlock the possibility of getting the egg mission?
