In November 1999, Toys “R” Us offered the first and only general public available Mew for players of the original Red, Blue, and Yellow games. The first 1500 people who went to select stores would be given a sticker card; 200 lucky recipients of these cards would find a special message underneath the Mew sticker and would be invited to come back that next month to receive Mew!
It was easy enough to download the Mew on my modded 3DS because recipients of the actual Mew have since been able to dump their original cartridge saves to their computers. Not only is Mew available, but the actual distribution cartridge is available to download (see pics).
That being said, I wanted something to make this Mew feel a little more authentic, so I bought one of the original sticker cards from Toys “R” Us.
