This is a few years old, but I feel rather satisfied with these designs.
Piscairy, the Goldfish Pokémon. “Piscairy are friendly Pokémon, but are voracious eaters, so Trainers need to take care that they don’t nibble on smaller Pokémon.” “A shimmering dust falls off this Pokémon’s tail fins as it moves. It’s thought that this dust allows Piscairy to float out of water.” “Piscairy have no stomachs, so they eat constantly. They’ll try to consume anything that fits in their mouths.”
Marixie, the Goldfish Pokémon. “While normally sociable and friendly towards other Pokémon, Marixie become incredibly competitive when it comes to food. It’s best to feed them separately.” “Marixie will often appeal to others in order to receive food. It’s highly motivated by treats.” “The pearls on Marixie’s body glow when it’s hungry. Because it’s always hungry, at night the pearls look like twinkling stars.”
Aquarade, the Masquerade Pokémon. “Aquarade cozy up to other Pokémon, using their friendly behavior to take food away when the other Pokémon aren’t looking.” “If its attempts at appealing to others fail, Aquarade is not above slapping with its fins and taking food by force.” “Aquarade usually conserves energy, but if there’s food on the line, it’ll attack in full force. It’s surprisingly vicious when battling.”
The concept behind them is a mix of pearlscale goldfish, butterfly tail goldfish, femme fatales, and the fact goldfish have no stomachs. Piscairy is based off of Zelda fairies like Navi and Tattl specifically, while the other two are based off masquerade masks and ball gowns. Like all water starters, they get Torrent, but I’m stuck between Gluttony or Competitive as a hidden ability. Due to the butterfly aesthetic, they get moves such as Bug Buzz, Quiver Dance, Silver Wind, and Signal Beam, as well as Water and Fairy STAB like Moonblast, Scald, Dazzling Gleam, Flip Turn. They would also get Beat Up, Rock Blast, Pluck, Covet, Trick, and Fake Tears. Aquarade would lean towards being a Special Attacker, but have a decent Attack stat and decent Speed with lower defenses and mid HP.
