Lavara, the Mafic Pokemon, is a small bug Pokemon that prefers living in hot-arid environments. They spend their days crawling along the rocky terrain eating small bits of rocks and metals. Their inside temperatures can reach temperatures high enough to begin liquifying materials.
Pupyre, the Mafic Pokemon, is the evolved form of Lavara. After eating copious amounts of rock and metal materials, they have slowed down and entered a state of food coma. They have incredibly sturdy exoskeletons, making their sluggish lifestyles possible in a world of predators. While Pupyre do not eat in this form, they have show extreme interest in a certain kind of stone.
Torchbuzz, the Mafic Pokemon, is the result of letting a Pupyre eat a Fire Stone. Evolved to move quickly, Torchbuzz uses their vast storage of calories gathered in their pre-evolution to zip around and hunt. Torchbuzz will swarm at nighttime, creating beautiful displays of lights for onlookers.
I think Lavara and Pupyre would have abilities that burn upon attack contact. Torchbuzz would have an ability that makes them faster after taking damage. Evolving a Pupyre trades their extremely high defenses for Torchbuzz’s extremely high speed.
