Heya everyone of r/NintendoSwitch!
My name’s Michael, I’m the lead developer of Misc. A Tiny Tale at Tinyware Games – down under in Perth, Western Australia! Me and a core team of two others have been working on this game for over five years now and it releases today on Nintendo Switch! (As of this post, it’s OUT NOW!)
In Misc, you explore as Buddy and Bag Boy – two tiny robots with big hearts and an even bigger mission: spreading joy! After a mysterious explosion rains golden cogs and trash from the sky, it’s their job to collect, clean, and help each village while uncovering the secret behind the blast. If you’re a fan of early 2000’s era adventure games like Chibi-Robo, Mario Sunshine, or just want a low-stakes game with lots of heart to play on a weekend, Misc is for you!

We’ve worked incredibly hard to get the game running well on both the original Nintendo Switch, but also making the most of the Nintendo Switch 2 with its backwards compatibility. We hope the game surprises people in the best way, and have thankfully had a ton of really heartfelt amazing reviews come out this week sharing that goal.
Our AMA kicks off at 8am PDT | 5pm CEST, but please leave some questions early! I’ll get to them right as it begins. I’d also like to mention I’ll be giving away a key of the game on Nintendo Switch in this AMA! To be in the running, just ask us a question! A random commenter will be selected 24 hours after the AMA ends!
That’s everything! So please, ask us anything you’re curious about. I want to thank everyone for their support over the years. And thank the lovely folks at r/NintendoSwitch for allowing me to come on here with this AMA. I greatly appreciate it! It’s been truly a dream come true making this game and I hope it stays in your hearts for many years to come.
Let the AMA begin!

Hey Michael, why would I shoot a bloke – BANG – and then put him in the bloody car and whiz him off to the hospital at a hundred miles an hour? It defeats the purpose of having shot him in the first place
Are there any plans for a co-op mode? Love playing games with my nephew and this seems like it would be great if it had some sort of co-op mode.
How big of an impact did chibi robo have on you so that made you create an inspired game. It looks fun and actually pretty close. And would you want to make more if this game takes off and is reviewed positively?
Cool looking game by a fellow Aussie! 🇦🇺
When you say you’re making the most of the Switch 2 back compat, what sort of framerate can we expect?
Do you eat food?
Were there any outfits for Buddy that didn’t make it into the game and if so why?
will there be a demo?
The trailer looks astonishing! Was there any game inspiring you, or do you have a favorite childhood game?
I was gonna ask if I can pat the dog, but then I saw that we can pat the dog. So I guess I’ll just say thanks for letting us pat the dog 🙂
Game looks good!
How do you feel about the levels where FLUDD gets taken away in Sunshine? What are you general feelings about difficulty in platform games?
What do you want your players to feel after finishing your game?
Hey! I didn’t have a question, but I’ll ask this to enter the contest:
How’d you get so cool?
This game looks adorable and I’m ready to play!
What is your favourite movie?
The game looks so adorable. Will this game support other languages?
The game looks really charming! Aesthetically it reminds me of the Pikmin series.
When developing for Switch with Switch 2 in mind, can you code the game in a way that dynamically allows higher resolutions on Switch 2 (like 1080p handheld and up to 4K docked) without making a dedicated Switch 2 version?
Oh wow I would love to win this for my friend who is writing an academic paper on chichi robo!
What was the most and least rewarding aspect of working on Misc?
Any plans for a French version?
Did any character designs change/evolve through the course of production? And do you like the way designs ended up in the final product?
It’s always really interesting to me to hear about the artist’s feelings about designs at the conceptual vs final level.
What was your inspiration for the design of the character?
How does the financing of such a long project work?
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to do this AMA, and for doing the giveaway. I am definitely intrigued by your game considering all of the Chibi-Robo vibes. I was wondering, however, what other games (and/or other media) influenced you in creating this game. That could be in terms of the gameplay itself or even just the story. Thanks again!
Can we expect a physical version of the game?
Downloading it now. When did you start working on this game ?
Has being an Aussie studio helped give the game some of its unique vibe? I love indie games and yours looks super interesting. Hope to give it a try soon! I know demos can take a ton of extra work but a playable game slice would be highly appreciated.
I’m always happy to see new indie 3D platformers, congrats on the release! If you could pick one thing, what is one new idea that you came up with for this game that you hope really leaves a lasting impression on players?
What was the most challenging part of making this? Is a higher res version planned for PC?
do you have any plans to make the Switch 2 version more than just backwards compatible?
How long does a project like this usually take once you have the idea for the game? What are some milestones that need to be attained to ensure it’s on the right track?
