Snom won’t eat berries and adventure with me on map?

I fed my snom earlier today and it came out to adventure. After a few hours I hopped back on PoGo to feed it again, but instead of eat the berry I toss at it, sparkles come out like it's mad. I tried every berry, thinking maybe they've implemented likes and dislikes! Only it wanted none. I even tried golden raspberries and silver pinnape.
Is this intended? What are the stipulations for this happening?

If it were a bug there wouldn't be new sparkles as a reaction.
