elden ring is still dropping frames on pcs and ps5 in 2025
fromsoftware really sucks in optimizing their games

  2. Turtlefan87

Eden Ring doesn’t run well on PS4 either so idk sounds like Fromsoft problem tbh

  3. I love From but they always seem to struggle with performance.

  4. Yakushika

That sucks. Would really have expected this to run quite well, considering it’s was on the PS4 generation and even runs well on Steam Deck.

I feel like FromSoftware is the Bethesda from the late 2000/early 2010. Great games that aren’t well optimized, but people look over this way more, compared to other developers.

Switch 2 is powerful enough for games to be on the same level of a PS4 Pro, but ultimately comes down to the developer doing a good job or not.

  6. Valve themselves had to patch Elden Ring on the deck to get it running.

  7. Malagubbar

It haven’t got the best framerate on PS5 either tbh

  8. The real problem here is Nintendo will get flack for their hardware not running it well by consumers that don’t know better despite it being an optimization problem, one that it has on all platforms

  9. AnActualSadTaco

Very disappointing. Though not exactly unexpected given their track record with optimization.

  10. PreceptorZote

Things are looking good for The Duskbloods 👀

  11. Otherwise_Procedure3

Please fromsoftware just take more time and make more optimized games please

  12. How is Cyberpunk, a game with a considerably worse launch and performance during the PS4 era, performing better than Elden Ring lol

  13. drakev6304

Definitely a shame, hope they fix it before final release. Was one of the main reasons I bought a switch 2

  14. Before I form an opinion, I will wait until we see actual gameplay

  15. SirFluffleWuffle

Ah crap there it is. I figured this was the reason why no recording was allowed

  16. Witch_King_

Well, I guess that’s why they didn’t allow filming! Hopefully they are able to patch the performance in handheld. I’d also be interested to know how the game does in docked mode.

If a Steam Deck can run this game well at 30/40fps, the Switch 2 should be able to as well!!

  17. He couldnt figure out the controls? Its the same button layout, theyre just called different things…..?

Edit: ooooh right inverted a/b. But he also mentioned twohanding, which should be the same (R1 + Triangle)

  18. AnEngineeringMind

It’s not even good in handheld PC. I tried to run this on Rog Ally and it sucked. And to be fair Elden Ring graphics are nothing crazy.

  19. Chickat28

If cyberpunk can be an unstable 40 elden ring should really be a locked 30 if not 40.

  20. Ok-Tear7712

Let’s just hope the performance will be improved when the game releases, although that’s extremely unlikely

  21. Real_human27

Noo I was looking forward to this. The game isn’t out yet maybe they will fix those issues before the game releases?

  22. Panda_hat

Oh dear. Sadly not that surprising. It’s a behemoth of a game and From are bad at optimisation to begin with.

  23. Marco__Island

The reveal looked like it was running like shit so this isnt surprising. The Duskbloods will run like shit too unless Nintendo does some heavy lifting with developing the game.

  24. brokenmessiah

From Software has literally always been ass with performance and its always never mattered to people.

    I’m people.

  25. Hazelberry

I’m shocked that the game that had performance struggles on PC is struggling on what is effectively a tablet

  26. oh my goooood why is from soft so sucky at optimizing. There goes my little hope they had learned something from the other ports

  27. Nicolas_Comm

IGN specifies there was no performance / quality mode, as well as how detailed the game was. Maybe that was an early build and the final game will be further ‘optimized’ (though I Don expect miracles from FromSoft). I truly expect the 30 fps to be reached when released. Maybe I’m delusional…

  28. EsrailCazar

Man…it’s just X and O buttons that are swapped when moving from PlayStation to Nintendo, it isn’t *”so confusing”*.

  29. They didn’t allow any kind of recording because they are obviously hiding abysmal performance. There is no release date and it very well may be that it’s running like crap currently. Why bother showing it? My guess is that there is going to be more work done to get it running decently. But that just goes back to the question, why show it at all?

  30. MarcsterS

Apparently its using the PS5 version for some reason? Why? It’s actually recommended to play the PS4 version on PS5 just so it stays stable.

also why are they inverting controls like they did with DS1 Switch? Even Nintendo is using B for jumping now because the bottom button is just universally agreed to be *that* button.

  31. KazzieMono

Modern game devs should be held to a higher standard of optimization

  32. Smallball_Curc

Well this is worrying, almost every 3rd party games coming to the switch 2 has glaring performance issues or missing features – and on the rare occasion it doesn’t it’s released as a game key-card so even less incentive to buy.

  33. We don’t have a release date on this yet, right?
