Hi, we are Isa /u/OkoIsa tech lead, Don /u/HerrHertz creative lead and Harry /u/halisavakis tech art from Okomotive.
Herdling is a brand new atmospheric adventure game from the studio that brought you FAR: Lone Sails and FAR: Changing Tides. In Herdling, you head out on a grand alpine expedition with a herd of loveable beasts. Ascend a mountain path, encounter eerie dangers and surprising obstacles, and forge your way to the mystery at the summit.

how long is the playthrough time for the far games?
what was the most challenging thing to do for herdling?
Does the game have collectibles?
How challenging was it to get the visuals spot on without affecting gameplay?
The art style for Herdling had me interested from the moment I saw it. Did you always have that art style in mind when developing or did that come later?
What was the process for designing the beasts like? What sorts of real-life or fantasy sources helped inspire you?
What’s your favorite alpine mountain area to visit? Switzerland has so many beautiful locations!
In a word, what emotion did you most want people to feel when playing your game.
If absolutely necessary you could use two or three words. But don’t push it!
Just started, loving the visuals so far. My question is, what were your biggest roadblocks in regards to getting the mechanics of herding as smooth as you did?
Does the game take advantage of the increased power on Switch 2 at all?
I have bought the game on Switch 2 and really wanted to love it. But I am not happy with the performance at all. Since I got out of town with my herd the fps dropped significantly and it’s lagging and stuttering especially during the ZR action with the flowers. And the background details rendering as I am proceeding forward is just ridiculous. I was trying to pet my calicorn and I did pet the air too. I wish the game looked more like in the trailer and were less lagging. Are you planning to optimise the game for Switch 2 considering Switch/Switch 2 are most popular game consoles for cozy games players?
Did Nintendo approach you guys for the first trailer to be put in the partner showcase or do you submit it to them and hope they pick it?
It was great exposure for your game and came across great in the Nintendo Direct: Partner showcase.
Will there be a patch for improved visuals on Switch 2?
Love your games btw and looking forward to playing this one.
Saw the preview and thought this looks interesting. Is there much story in the game or is it more about the exploration/journey?
absolutely adored both FAR games and jumped into Herdling the second it hit Game Pass. Huge kudos for keeping that signature atmosphere without dialogue or bloat.
loving it so far only downside is it’s been crashing a lot on my Series S, so I’ll probably hold off a bit until there’s a fix. but I’ll be right back in as soon as it’s patched!
Thank you for all your questions 🙂 We will go off now (We had a long release day) Have a nice day or evening! cheers
Just finished the game and have to say I really enjoyed it you guys did crazy good w the visuals it was beautiful
Slightly stupid question that I’ve been asking myself for a while. Why don’t you just do a switch 2 mode in the settings while waiting for the devkits? Because it doesn’t look professional? And by the way, is there a way to detect if the game is launched on switch 1 or 2?
I’ve been so excited for the new games since your announcement! Can’t wait to enjoy the gameplay and soundtrack. I’ve played through both FAR games more times than I can count. Congrats on the new release and thank you for doing what you do.
How do you tell if a Calico is make or female? I feel like it’s the beards, but I’m not sure about the little ones.
This game is really amazing. I downloaded it on a whim from Xbox Game Pass and it had me absolutely hooked. Played about 2 hours tonight after work, looking forward to returning to it over the weekend.
Are you planning to do any merch? I would love to buy a figure of a Calicorn.
