Just throwing this out there for those of us who didn't do nearly enough Eternatus battles to get the candy to max it out. It's possible they will have future events that will feature Eternatus candy. Maybe just power it's up and upgrade it's max move Dynamax Cannon.
I emded up spending like 70-80 bucks total to get it to lvl 46, i did basically nothing but eternatus raids to keep the cost down, and I honestly regret it.
If you put it as your buddy and walk it. It will take 172,000 km to get enough candy to get it to level 40 if its 20 km per candy

Jesus wept, as a creator I get it but pokemon is a child's at hearth this is just wrong.
I'll be gradually leveling mine up no rush. Pokemon Go will probably long gone by the time I get to max it out
This is my opinion on the event. Garbage! The odds felt like garbage if you didn’t open your wallet your not gonna be successful and get what you want and even if you wanted wild spawns they were no better I got no shiny in 30 raids so I wasn’t a big fan of it. But hey could just be my sourness in not getting a single shiny but eh
I liked this event. I will be buying the bottle cap for my 82% IV Eternatus for sure since Dragon type is my favourite and it's the strongest and I've powered mine up to 4799 CP already and increased all of the Max Moves to Level 3. I didn't want to spend the money (extra $100 AUD or so) to get the last 1.5 levels on it though. I didn't like the timing of this event so soon after the Go Fest with Crowned Zacian & Crowned Zamazenta. I feel like they should have waited a year for it and released all the other Gigantamax Pokemon before Eternatus, as the Max content feels done now. If you have a team of maxed out Crowned Zacian, Crowned Zamazenta and Eternatus you've already got the ultimate Max Battle team. I'll do one of each of the unreleased Gigantamax Pokemon as they release them though for the Pokedex entry, but won't be hundo-hunting or shiny-hunting. I might participate in a future Eternatus event if they make it significantly cheaper to get XL Candy to finish mine off. This event was definitely a blatant cash-grab and Scopely/Niantic should be ashamed of themselves for profiteering so much, especially with ruining the power-up candy cost so Rare Candies and Rare Candy XLs are almost completely ineffective.

I was out for my birthday “for adults” so my kid logged on got a gigantamax shiny background ganger
Makes me wonder what’s in store for the future. Part of me wanted the toxic side of the community to revolt (hoping for positive change) but they probably don’t care. I got a hundo and could only bare to take it to level 48. The 35 extra raids weren’t worth the 5 attack and 3hp to me.
For me it was pokecoins 40 bucks saved from months of daily gyms lol…and my 15 dollar premium pass…thats all I spent on myself…I did spend more money because I bought passes for the rest of the family…I spent maybe 60 bucks this week…but lets be clear …only 15-20 on myself

every pokemon go youtuber the for the last week, "eternatus is scam, don't waste your money maxing it out"… then proceeds to upload a video titled "I maxed out the most expensive pokemon in pokemon go" after spending $200 remoting for 6 hours strait and buying double rewards on every raid. what a joke. I played the entire event in person this weekend, and if you were soley focused on eternatus and didn't do any of the gigantamax raids, you could get your eternatus to lvl 45+ with fully maxed out dynamax cannon for like $35. just buy the deluxe pass for $15, and $20 of coins to purchase 2 of the black max battle boxes with 8k particles each and you could easily do enough raids to get the 11.3k regular candies needed (8900 for lvl 40 and 2400 for max attack move) and you would get between 2-3k XL candies which gets you to about level 45 which is more than sufficient for 95% of players.
Also if you were smart, you could stack 3 of the field research of "unlock a max move" for 100 candy, and then get 300 candy for just 400 particles unlocking a radnom move on some other dmax/gmax pokemon and do that a few times to easily grab over a thousand extra candy for a fraction of the max particles than doing raids.
Unlimited raids… Max Particles cap 3200…During one of their main events… and as I’m typing you said the same thing I said… The shiny rates was low and so was the backgrounds soon as Saturday came. There wasn’t really a schedule going on cause Charizard raids was happening thee entire time. Something went wrong for sure. Now, if it was said somewhere that they were going to just be spawning everywhere anyway then I missed that part.
300$ for me to have it 100%maxed everything. Mixed of in person and remote with only 15 times spending the extra 200 coins. Congrats poke 🎉🎉🎉
Hahahaha Poke I thought the same thing. I wondered what it looked like on the other end with every dollar spent. I got 1 shiny the whole weekend and it was the first Gigantamax I did Saturday morning. Spent 100.

Tapped out at level 47 for eternatus. Spent way too much time and money but it is what it is. I got the shiny gmax I was looking for so I’ll call the weekend a win.
This event was suuuuper pay to win. Limiting those max battles boxes to 3 each way cruel.
Toxic echo chamber here. There is nothing wrong with their business model. People who pay more for the game should obtain greater heights with Pokemon like eternatus. There is completely nothing wrong with paying lots of money to max out eternatus. Buying the pass alone can get you sufficiently far into powering up eternatus, and you can get the pokemon for free as a F2P player as long as you are a diligent player.
I enjoyed the event, I only bought the pass, and managed to level my eternatus to 44.5, and level its max attack by 1. It is unfortunate that I cannot max it out, but this is life, getting the best means being the best, and sometimes that means being the best financially. There must always be premiums for hardcore players. Creating assets that are accessible and available to most players will turn people off, only people who are F2P like this idea.
5:25 I was doing a Raid train against Eternatus when I heard you answer the big question, I laughed out loud so much cause what you were explaining was so damn true and real PokeAk. I snapped out of the grind for it early during the event on Saturday, and Sunday I only really went hard during the last hour and a half of the event. Overall I had fun and was a great experience for the GMax battles within the game.
