So I'm a cheapass (CAG!) and looking for a another switch 2 dock. I saw so people had luck with usb-c docks. So a 3D printed a stand and brought a usb-c dock on Amazon. And it works! I do think the colors seem a little muted compared to the OEM dock (might be the HDMI I'm using.)
I'm not too worry about overheating issues. But hey it was only 20 bucks for the setup!
