Nintendo Switch

Hollow Knight: Silksong will feature a FREE Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, which we know at minimum unlocks a 120hz mode.

Remember, the game costs $20 on all platforms…

I love Team Cherry.

Hopefully Hollow Knight 1 will also get an upgrade at some point.

Shame that it’s not in handheld. I mean it should be possible, the game doesn’t look that heavy.

  3. So does this mean you just buy a switch 1 version and you’re set? (We have both consoles, my brother uses the switch 1 and my account sometimes)

  4. How does it work? Do you just buy it in e shop and it is the switch 2 version when you are using a switch 2?

  5. MultiMarcus

Is this an upgrade? Isn’t this just the game releasing on both platforms?

Obviously, it’s great to see and I hope we can see something similar from super giant when it comes to Hades two.

As someone with a Switch 2 that uses a lite most of the time lets gooooooo

This is what the other indies releasing this fall need to do. Mina the Hollower’s demo was also Switch 2. I’m hopeful for Hades 2 later this year. But I am disappointed with Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi dropping the ball here. Even if it wasn’t ready they could just tell us.

Curious what the resolution is and if there will be any other differences. I’m still a tiny bit torn on PC vs. Switch 2.

Any idea when it will be available for purchase on the eShop? It releases in less than 48 hours but I’m in the US and can’t purchase on the Nintendo shop yet. Looks like it is still Wishlist available for PS5 as well.

This will be interesting. Obviously the hand-drawn animation will be a max of 60 frames per second, but the environments and backgrounds will be moving at 120. I’m sure it will look awesome

It’s still unclear to me if it will be 120fps on handheld. I know there will be a 120fps TV mode but that seems to me like Metroid Prime 4 that can also do 4k 60fps. Handheld is only 1080p and surely Silksong is less intensive than Metroid.

  12. Wonder if the resolution will be upgraded. Hopefully. Doesn’t seem like a demanding game. Hand drawn sprites and backgrounds I don’t think are that demanding.

Do we know if it runs at 60 fps on switch 1

Now this is a gaming company that truly cares about games and gamers.

    – Great priced games
    – Great games
    – Considers the platforms the game will release on and allows it to take advantage of the features on the console

A team of 5 people do it better than companies with billions and thousands on staff.

    Come on.

  15. Will the switch 2 edition be available at launch? or will it take a couple of months for it to be released?

  16. NickoSwimmer

If we have BOTH a Switch 1 and Switch 2, does this mean we should all buy the Switch 1 version, then receive a free Switch 2 upgrade? That way we could play on the platform of our chosing?

  17. WorkingCautious1270

So just buy the switch 2 version. No problem right?

I remember back when Hollow Knight was new and people were jokingly-but-not-entirely BEGGING for Team Cherry to charge more than $15 for the game. Saying they were allergic to making money. Seems like they Team Cherry learned their lesson. (Which is to keep doing what they’ve always done: underpromise and overdeliver.)

I would expect it to be so if it releases on both systems at the same time. Indie games were not usually priced differently for multiple generations of consoles when released at the same time. Nintendo made it look like it was ok to have any switch 2 update to be priced if the devs chose to do so. A lot of work have gone through most of them, which is amazing, but for silksong, a premium for switch 2 version would have been a bad move anyway.

  20. OwnManagement

I would expect this to be the norm in the future for games currently in development that still intend to release on Switch 1. It’s not the same thing as revisiting an existing Switch 1 game.

Even though I couldn’t really play Hollow Knight (skill issue). I’m still going to pick this up for Switch 1 (OLED) and grab the free S2 update 😂

    > Remember, the game costs $20 on all platforms…

Also remember that Team Cherry have the liberty of knowing they’ll move an absolute metric shit-tonne of copies. Indies cannot normally guarantee this, so shouldn’t be used as a measure for other small developers or new IPs.

  23. I thought this was a Silkpost until I saw the subreddit. Ty Team Cherry 🧡

  24. 120hz on switch 2? Holy shit these guys are insane. I was going to buy on pc and Switch 2 already but wow they are cooking and we are eating good

  25. Unkechaug

Fry “take my money” meme, but unironically.

  26. Team Cherry continuing to respect the consumer. I will have this game on PC Game Pass but I’ll still buy it on Steam on day 1.

  27. noodle-face

Just FYI in case anyone on here is a PC gamer, it’s going to be free on gamepass on launch

  28. cedriceent

How to generate goodwill with your customers and fanbase. Maybe they can teach Nintendo that they seem to have forgotten.
