I was going to ask another “should I purify” question but while I was writing the context, I answered my own question, and I think a lot of other people asking the same could too.
Filling the pokedex is my primary pursuit in this game, and purifying would fill the purified and 100% slots. I do have a friend who is willing to purify one and trade to me but even with a lucky trinket, 100% isn’t guaranteed.
I also enjoy PvP and purifying would take it out of Ultra League. I was going to ask if shadow Regigigas would be useful in UL but I searched on pvpoke and other sources and it’s ranked a lot lower than some other UL mons I already have, and 15/13/13 IV isn’t great for pvp anyway. And for Master League, shadow Regigigas is ranked slightly lower than non shadow.
I did some searching and shadow Regigigas is a high tier attacker for raids, but I have other top tier raid mons. Besides, for raids, I care about pulling my weight (I make sure the damage contribution estimate in pokegenie is at minimum 25%) and not much beyond that, and during raid events I go to a high population area that easily has 15 players in a given battle so it’s not much of a concern.
tl;dr: don’t need shadow for raids, don’t want shadow for PvP, do want 100% dex entry and would rather save 80,000 stardust for receiving purified through trading, so purifying makes sense.
the real tldr: think about what you want, search on the internet to find out whether shadow is better for whatever it is you want

In general, if hundo hunter, purify. Save some read time.
If it has a bad hidden power type (dragon, ghost, steel, ice), I’d also purify for a hundo.
Regigigas with a bad hp type will be the same as a 0iv Regigigas to me as in that it’s just good for a trophy as it will never see use, that said 20 candy is a steep cost for a trophy, I’ll probably just tag it and purify after I’ve built a Regigigas army.
