Got into the TCG in spring and told myself to focus on the game instead of collecting until the scalping crisis dies down. Was lucky enough to get a spot in one of our local prerelease tournaments, so I and my kids took turns playing matches, then each opened one of the 3 reward packs at the end.
Couldnt believe our luck! I pulled the Bulbasaur in the 4 packs pre-tournanent, then my kid (pre-reading age) pulled the Ivysaur in his pack afterwards. It was hilarious to see everyone's reactions when he pulled it out of the pack – there was a collective lurch towards him and lots of "OK, be careful with it" and "ahhh, just… Uh… Try not to touch it so much" and "here, you can have a hard sleeve to keep it nice!" Everyone was super nice and complimentary to him, and it was really heartwarming.
Anyway, love this community, and props to all of you who help make it a great experience for adults and kids alike!
