The glitch for sure works. From my understanding, the glitch works because everytime you click on a wild Psyduck, the game rolls the dice to determine if it is a background or not. The game also seems to treat a background/non-background Psyduck as two different entities. This would explain how once the berry disappears, it's your indicator for a background Psyduck, as it is a different entity from the non-background one you've been clicking on.
With that all said, you do run the risk of the Psyduck despawning, depending on how long you've been trying the glitch. So if it is a shiny, hundo, etc., that's just something to keep in mind.
One final note is that you are supposed to catch the Psyduck on the FIRST encounter where the berry disappears in order to get a guaranteed background. If you back out of that first time the berry disappears, you basically re-rolled the dice for if you get a background or not. So you can't just blindly click in and out of the encounter, you must pay attention for thje moment it goes away. This is the most common mistake I have seen been made by some of my friends.
It can be tedious, but it does work. 🙂

They took away a QOL update because spoofers were complaining they could not flex screenshots of their caught pokémon without revealing they are spoofing? They must generate a lot of money for the company..
Special background but not good IVs or shiny means transfer in my book
Just reached lvl 44(go battle done thank goodness now onto team rocket!) My goal is to focus on the XP however I have a lot of special researches that are team rocket related. I hope to clear them all before Oct14. Hoping to level up one more time with enough XP to carry over for a higher level after Oct 14. Good luck everyone!

I got my Keldeo yesterday and it's a 98% IV so depending on how good it is for Raids/PVP will be if I use it or not
