I'm a solo small town player that doesn't often get the chance to catch legendary Pokémon. I actually had the free time to participate in today's shadow groudon day, but there weren't any raids. I found a group in campfire that was meeting at city hall, which has about 8-10 gyms visible from that area. None of them had any groudon raids at the start of our meet up. Upon looking at campfire, it was discovered that only one gym in the entire town had an active groudon raid. After doing one mega latios raid, we went to a park about 5-6 miles away and were able to complete 2 raids. The rest of the group planned to look for more and drive around trying to complete them. I just decided to take my 82 raid passes and go back home. It just didn't seem worthwhile to continue to do these at a rate of one per hour. Before I got there, I had planned to do 20-30 of these things to hopefully catch one with a good iv, a shiny, and yield around 100 candy xl. I also thought I would hit level 50. I did none of that, and came away never wanting to participate in one of these events ever again. Not only did I waste time and money, but it made me like the game less. I'm not sure if this is the way things normally go or not, but even if it normally goes better, I don't want to run the risk of wasting my time again. I'll just have to go back to being content with building legendary Pokémon to level 40, and only maxing out common Pokémon.
