-This is sitting on a Ruby cartridge as my game of choice. Ruby got more love than Emerald as a child.
-Ruby(100%)/Sapphire(3 times)/Emerald (minimally)/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum(100%)/XD all used and beaten
-Done on real genuine hardware all around. Traded between two GBAs and using link cable to GameCube. Game Boy Player for GameCube was also used if my eyes got tired
-Hall Of Fame was beaten 77 times on main game for XP and numerous times on side games
-Emerald was only used for Safari Zone additions, completed Ruby/Sapphire living dex first to avoid any benefit from any version-specific Pokemon that show up together in Emerald or Pokemon that are easier to obtain in Emerald. Beldum, Latias/Latios, Groudon/Kyogre and fossils (you can obtain both in Emerald which is too easy) unobtained in Emerald
-Any Pokemon obtained on Colosseum, that can be found on Emerald, were obtained first on Emerald, and then again on Colosseum for 100%. Colosseum was only played for the Johto starters to breed and a MATTLE Ho-Oh (30+ hours for 4 Pokemon). I played the GameCube games last but didn't want to wait to start filling up the Johto dex, Emerald safari zone was too tempting
-Umbreon/Espeon were evolved from bred Eevees using in-game real-time-clock mechanics on GBA and high happiness and were not transferred from the starters of Colosseum. Would have been too easy
-Lileep/Anorith and their "children" were obtained separately across 4 different playthroughs and weren't bred. Forgot I could breed them which was like an 8 hour mistake. 2 partial playthroughs were dedicated to obtaining fossil, bringing it to Devon Corp., trading over to main game, then deleting save files, 2 more obtained in full playthroughs
-Same thing with Metagross, 3 playthroughs used to obtain 3x Beldum for Beldum, Metang, Metagross. They were not bred
-Groudon/Kyogre obtained in Ruby/Sapphire and traded across to avoid being able to obtain both in Emerald
-Latias/Latios were obtained on 1 playthrough of Ruby and 1 playthrough of Sapphire using the end-game roaming access rather than event-only access to Southern Island to obtain both in one playthrough etc. Southern Island Latias & Latios were obtained on one copy each of Ruby & Sapphire, caught for completion of event but not included in collection and is kept in a different save
-Ho-Oh was obtained as the ultra rare Pokemon Colosseum OT:MATTLE Ho-Oh by obtaining, then purifying, all 48 shadow Pokemon in Pokemon Colosseum… Then defeating all 100 trainers in Mt. Battle, to avoid using event-only Navel Rock access. Navel Rock Ho-Oh was caught for completion of event but not included in collection and is kept in a different save
-Lugia was obtained in Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness to avoid using event-only Navel Rock access. Navel Rock Lugia was caught for completion of event but not included in collection and is kept in a different save
-The only real legal way to obtain Mew across any gen 3 game is an event in Japanese Emerald that was coded in but never actually released on other versions. There is no legitimate way to obtain a non-event English Mew, thus this Mew was caught on Japanese Emerald by me and thus has a Japanese name. Trading is supported across languages in Gen 3 so this was not an issue. Old Sea Map distribution was used and not hacked into save
-Jirachi is obtained using the elusive Pokemon Colosseum bonus disk and transferred to the GBA console via link. There are no special requirements besides taking out a second mortgage for the disk
-A second Jirachi (not shown) was obtained through beating the European version of Pokemon Channel.
-Celebi was obtained through the Japanese Pokemon Colosseum bonus disk, which unlike Jirachi which is a no-frills gift, requires the 48 shadow Pokemon to all be caught and purified (100% completion) on a Japanese Pokemon Colosseum save file on the memory card inserted. There is no legal, legitimate way to obtain an English Celebi besides event distributions so this Pokemon has a Japanese name. A Japanese Ruby cartridge was used for the transfer as the bonus disk refuses to transfer to cartridges of the wrong region, then traded from Japanese Ruby to American Ruby thereafter
-Johto starters were obtained in Colosseum (1 near start of game, other 2 obtainable in post-game) and bred on Ruby twice each for the 9
-Any Pokemon that can only be obtained with a nickname from in-game trades with NPCs (Mr. Mine, Jynx, Lickitung, Farfetch'd, etc.) were all bred to remove nicknames, and also replace OT name with mine
-Deoxys was obtained from a legit Birth Island access distribution. There is a direct distribution floating around but I wanted to actually catch it. This and Mew are the only Pokemon that is truly event-only (Ho-Oh, Lugia, Latios, and Latias can all be obtained through other, albeit excruciating, means) and both were acquired using an official distribution rather than hex editing in the tickets
-One shiny was obtained the entire endeavor, without hunting, which was a Tentacool on Route 119 during Feebas hunting on the main game. No other shinies were seen or obtained despite all the encounters!
-To catch them is my real quest, to train them is my cause. Pokemon
Dedicated to my younger self
