For reference, I’m a huge fan of the first one. It was sturdy, fit my meaty man hands better than any other grip, and the case was neat.
Yesterday my Zengrip 2 arrived. And, well, my feelings are mixed.
First of all, I like the grip, but it doesn’t feel as comfortable for me personally as the first. In the first one, the left side handle was angled more due to the button placement of the switch so it required less effort to handle. This one feels closer.
Secondly, sturdiness. I like that this new grip feels slimmer than the first, but it also feels a little flimsier. I worry that if I take it out of the grip, the grip itself can bend way more than the first and might break.
Thirdly, the left side grip which I’ve included a picture of. The edge of the grip is extremely close to the buttons, and doesn’t sit flush with the Switch. Because of this, when using the D pad, the left button feels off because my fingers always collide with the side of the grip when I’m trying to press the buttons.
Lastly, the console placement, which I’ve included a picture of. As you can see, it’s impossible to plug in my USB cable for my controller. Not a huge issue I know, but because I use the old Pro controller instead of the Pro 2 controller, it has to be plugged in to start the console. But if I leave the Switch in the grip while docking it, there’s no way to plug it in.
So, I’m torn. I do like the feel of the grip, but my two big gripes are the left handle fitting too close to the D pad and the inability to plug in a USB cable while it’s docked.
Has anyone else gotten theirs? I’m interested to hear your thoughts.
