Why do we have to hurry up and hit level 50? Can someone explain? Also it says on the site that trainers will be automatically ranked up to certain levels based on currently undecided parameters so not sure what that means either.
Considering they also announced that Pokémon level will not be connected to our level after lvl 50… exactly why would anyone care about leveling up?
Wouldn't that mean that pokemon can also go to level 80 now?

I'm at level 49. I've already resigned to the fact I won't make it to level 50 in time. It sucks, but it is what it is. Between work and being unable to do lots of walking in hot weather to get to gyms and poke stops, it's never gonna happen. I really hope they bring the jacket back in some format. Maybe there'll be something better than the jacket, or at least something just as cool at level 80.

I'm grateful i was able to grind as hard as I did to hit level 50 before the update. I just managed to hit it the other day. I started at 119mil xp, at level 43 (i didnt do the tasks, as I wanted the xp bar to say 69,696,969 😂)
Completed the leaders without a rocket event, planned ahead because there was 3 weeks of timelocked tasks, plus 50 lucky trades etc. When I wasnt grinding tasks I was doing 2mil xp per day in catches on a lucky egg. So grateful I was able to complete it in time, as I know not everyone was in the same position as me.
I still don’t have the October pass available. Why?

I managed to get to lvl 50 yesterday. Been grinding out the last 3 levels since the initial announcement.
