Theres no death, it's more alive than ever
This was peak society, then we got trump, and the world as been on the downswing ever since
I honestly had a great time when I picked it up again for the first time since 2016 this summer. The monetization was why I didn't keep playing though — I'm a free to play player, and constantly trying to manage bag space was time consuming and not fun. It sucked to get invites to remote raids and have those features be pay walled. I might go back to it at some point, but it's hard to enjoy collecting when my bag is so gd tiny.
Great Video!I was shocked when i saw less than 100 subs..
I subbed! Keep it goin man
it has greatly calmed down but it's still alive.
The game is great… but can't please everyone
i see ur sylveon
I remember when people ran with excitement for a Snorlax and a Charmander as if they rare. Don't get started when people cared about going out at night for gastly/Gengar
I love this game so much
Haven't watched it yet but I'm commenting out of sheer disbelief… see the thing is PGO doesn't seem very dead in my town, because to this day I get like 50 people showing up in front of my school dorm and they're not even students?!?!? And this is like at LEAST 2-3 times a month that I coincidentally catch people all crowded there when something rare drops by my school and suddenly there's an influx of randoms. When I ask around, everyone there is for Pokemon GO, it's crazy. Now 50 might not seem like a lot, but this is a small town and this was relatively far away from the main campus, so in fact all of them were just PGO players..
I always thought (and still do think) spoofing is fine. My brother lives out in the boonies. He quit playing because all he could get was Pidgey. He came back when he learned how to spoof and played the game daily because of it. He heard you could get banned for it and never played again. I live in the city and hardly ever found anything worthwhile. No spoofing allowed then I'm out as well.
I love Kanghaskan. Definitely misspelled that but I still love it. I'm never going to go to Australia. So if I still played I'd never be able to get one of my favorites. Wonderful. If they want regional exclusives then spoofing should be full game. They gain nothing from me going to Australia to catch a Pokémon. I'm not paying hundreds/thousands to go to Australia to catch a Pokémon then go back to the States. That's unreasonable. What is reasonable is global trading. Allowing spoofing. Implementing their own brand of spoofing. Hell charge money per month for it. Banning for it when it allows everyone to play regardless of where they live is ridiculous.
I still play daily and I've played in like 30-35 states, and Mexico. I've seen some weird stuff. To your point, the BYU campus is beautiful and security was cool with looking for lapras from 12-7… In the morning. In ocean springs, Mississippi there is a Vietnam memorial and the pokestops shut down at 6:00p.m. (There is a gym in the back of this park and a police officer will corner you in if you walk back there… And help you raid).
Awesome video! Started playing again in August after not touching the game since week 1… honestly really enjoying the game and although it's more monitized I think we're getting more value out of the money spent…
I stopped playing because of the model change but I still have my account for my shiny pika in the mimikyu costume……why can’t I transfer him to home😭😭
Idk y’all but I’m playing daily and there’s a good community around me here in Miami FL
This is a great video, but it's not dead, it's definitely it used to be but I've started playing again, about 6-7 months ago and there are loads of people still playing all around the world and locally
It handled things very poorly for sure. Pandemic was the best thing that happened to it, but they didnt want an enjoyable game, they wanted people's data.
Most of their decisions are more on- is it a good time in terms of business? instead of does it work the best for the game
In my area, they took their sweet time implementing even pokestops, gyms and spawns. Years later when all the hype had gone down. And I am not in rural area, just in outer part of city. We had to go to inside of city to play like a rural area player would. Its still not as good as it should be, but they have made a lot of progress. Unfortunately community has died already
I cant raid big bosses that way, other than through remote raids. I couldnt consistently get coins from gym cause no one was playing, but while things have gotten better and I get like 200-250 coins per week. They release a meta breaking pokemon so often that you cant buy space and do enough raids to get enough energy for new things. Even with min maxing things this is way out of hand
Things like random meteorite for mega Rayquaza, the insane cost for Eternatus and worst- random chance at move for Origin form Dialga and Palkia. If you dont have these mons, you are seriously lacking in capabilities. I did a ton of raids for origin palkia and most of them were 2 stars. Managed to get 98% and guess what? Not the needed move and I cant get it on it. We are already doing so much to get them, at least let the moves and catch be guaranteed.
Worst is, no matter how legitimate the complain is, there are some people (always online, never in person) always defending pokego like they are getting paid for it. I remember once where niantic made an obvious cashgrab move and a guy defended it saying- Oh you just want a pokemon for free? Just pay for it and he called the other guy a "cuck" for not being happy with a shitty deal. I do acknowledge that sometimes complaining gets too much, but at times Pokego themselves had to come out and say that this was a bad move before these people stop. I hope to god that these are just bots
In terms of content, the game has honestly gotten a lot better from where it started and it has a loyal community, but it feels like abusive relationship more often than not. It has gotten a lot more pay to win and cashgrab focused, community seems to have gotten more toxic and for a lot of players- just plain loss of nostalgia for newer releases. Its hard to invite new players in with all these issues
I simply don't have an extra hundred or two a month to play the game with my family the way Niantic wants. Since the Saudis bought it, it'll only get worse with the fomo money grabs.
I enjoyed your video and think you should keep going with YouTube content!
After watchin the video I realized that people have to much FOMO and I don’t, so I don’t see a problem with Pokemon go. it’s just something to do when I go for a walk. Again people are the problem not Niantic mostly. And Dynamax is the best feat in the game.
Why do trainers not like to use Pogo Pokémon in mainline games?
Great trip down memory lane, and the video is so well put together.
The sarcastic comments every 10 seconds for 2 hours is pretty heavy, and I hope it doesn’t get people clicking off the video.
All the best.
31:08 wtf, are people chasing Latias and Latios or the legendary dogs while driving?
Bro, do you even POGO?
21:12 only in ohio
35:15 its not Olympic level but they did add pokemon go to competitions and official tournaments. I'm baffled that tapping a phone can win actually money 😂. I get there is some knowledge and meta around the game but its overall silly to me especially compared to how main series games handle competitions.
I can say something: ever since Pokemon Go introduced shiny hunting in raids and shiny mythical quests, PTC has been shiny locking all the legendary Pokemon in MSG to try to get players to pay to hunt them. Yes you can technically send these Pokemon to Pokemon Home and use them, but it costs money to hunt them and you can only upload one a week. Some Pokemon that I have seen that are completely Go exclusive with the trainer’s ID in Home are Mew (outside Japan), Jirachi, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancie (GoTour2026), Melton, Melmetal, Zacian, Zamazenta, GArticuno. GZapdos, GMoltres, Enamorus (Vday 2026) and wandering Gimmighoul. Honestly I think the whole scalping with shiny Miraidon and shiny Koraidon was intentional by PTC, bc in 2 years, player will be able to shiny hunt them behind Pokemon Go’s paywall just like what happened with Zacian and Zamazenta. To add more salt, half of the Zacian, Gimmighoul, and Zamazenta couldn’t even be sent to home bc of the event backgrounds. What was once something players could do for free in gens 1-8, they now have to pay Pokemon Go to hunt. I miss the GB-early DS saga just bc of it.
As someone that never played pkmn go, something tha resonated a lot and made a lot of people quit was when for some reason Nyantic decided to make all 3D avatar ugly. IIRC Nyantic never adressed those complains and didn't care about reverting those changes.
Perhaps it is for the better that there are no longer STAMPEDES of mindless Pokemon Go players running around disturbing the everyday lives of ordinary people. Also, I cannot believe people would spend money on this game JUST for a CHANCE at a color pallet swap… Very sound financial decision, that one. /S I feel sorry for anyone who got conned into playing such a predatory, gimmicky game. It certainly does not sound very enjoyable with all of the AGGRESSIVE monetization and hoops to jump through just to play it…
As someone who’s played Pokemon Go since the beginning (altho I’ve taken breaks) I have to say it’s definitely very underrated. There are definitely some advantages Go has over the main series games like
-having the entire Pokédex be catchable (there are still many being released in the game but they will eventually be there)
-shiny hunting is not as time consuming. I’m sorry but an adult just doesn’t have 8 hours of there day to just sit on a couch to grind a single shiny. In go you can get multiple which you can send to home for other players to enjoy
-you get exercise, I don’t think I need to explain why walking around a park while playing a game is 100x healthier then sitting in bed in a dark room playing. I know lots of people who lost weight thanks to Pokemon go
-and the best part is the community. Granted I will admit that it does suck when an area has very few players but some states like FL for example has a huge player base with dozens of people who meet up for raid days & com day. And we even have in person events created like Go fest, safari zones, wild areas & tour events where many people all over the world can meet and talk. The main series games just doesn’t have that type of community since they are more solo games and all the interactions like trading is done without needing to talk to anyone
I definitely recommend at least trying Pokemon Go if you’ve never played and if you’re a 2016 player who hasn’t been back I recommend to check it out again. There is lots of new features you’ll enjoy that 2016 didn’t have
I agree that Pokemon Go is a pay-to-play and a pay-to-win all in one. It's sad. edit: as a player myself, i end up juggling items and pkmn inventory until i can "buy" more space. I've never actually given Niantic any money. All of the pokecoins i've spent have been what i've gotten from events or from gyms i've entered pkmn at.
Yeeep nobody to raid with… its over.
dam, Pokemon Go sounds just like Cod Circa 2019 After BO4,
what a shame
It is not pronounced kneeantic. Do your research
Subbed earned 😀
This guy has no idea what his talking about
Games doing well in my area. Fake video content
I wont even watch over an hour of misinformation 😂
The game is far far away from being called dead.
Looks like you are not playing at all so you have 0 clue
Google just wanted everyone location lol
