not to mention he also spent $150+ on them š
lol, gotta catch ’em all, right? Even the fakes! š But srsly, sucks when this kinda stuff happens. Maybe your dad can turn it into a learning curve? Like, next time someone tries to sell magic beans, he’ll know what’s up. Stay sharp out there, PokeDads!
A tough lesson was learnt that day
Thats really neat your dad got you these. I hope you were able to laugh about it and still enjoy some pulls you could frame without worrying about reselling! Sry it was a lot of money, but gifts be like that sometimes.
Damn thatās a bummer. It sucks when they just want to do something nice and get punked for it
Hug your dad and tell him thanks for thinking of you
You must have a wonderful dad
Yeah but the real question needs to be asked:
How do the pull rates compare to legit packs?
If it makes you feel better Ive seen my dad twice in the last 20 years. Didnāt call me when my mom passed away earlier this year. Didnāt call me when I had my first born a few months ago.
I would say it’s a good time to teach him about special sets, and how they don’t have booster boxes. At least that’d be a step in the right direction to keep it from happening again.
I got a non-legit pack from my coworker who went to the Philippines. They are gold cards and totally fake but I appreciate my coworker getting me something.
Keep them. Theyāre a good reminder of how much your dad loves and thinks about you.
Surging evolutions
Personally I wouldnāt tell them, Iād put them in their own binder and hold them because Dad gave them to me.

Lmao
Iād for sure keep them and thank him for it, moments like that you canāt ever get back. In another convo Iād bring up people making fake packs and how to avoid it like itās a new concept for both of you not just him, like itās something you just learned too and you guys are together so he doesnāt feel bad. For real those boys would be front page binder though, Iād give anything to open some fake cards with my pops.
Spent $150 on thisš«©š«©
Did you get anything good?
I once got fake packs for my Christmas.
Told my parents they were fake and apologized, so now they are wary and make sure to consult me if necessary.
OP, obviously your dad loves you. Give him a big hug and tell him you love him too. Mistakes happen. He was just trying to make you happy. You two will laugh about it in the future, if not now.

šš- he mustāve been happy to buy you that, whoever sold it to him I hope they choke on rocks
What an idiot of a man your dad is! Hope your mum left him years ago dude
Wich store did your dad buy it?
This hobby has been so upsetting lately
That’s So terrible!! Sorry that happened š
Proxy deck š
Iād open them anyway out of curiosity
Man, Iād have such a hard time telling him they were fake. Lol. Good dad, regardless and hopefully it wasnāt a big financial hit for you guys. Shit like this hurts so much more when youāre not well off.
Iāve just had a similar thing happen. My wife and I are newly weds and just moved halfway across the country on our own. My dad surprised us by showing up on the front door and he saw that we started collecting as a way for her and I to connect when things are tough. When he went home my mom sent me a picture and heās started buying every single sealed thing he can find. Fake and real. I will in fact not tell him they are fake. Iām just blessed to have my pops think about us. Happy for you !
Dang⦠I canāt even find fakes anymore š
This is the worst thing to happen, and Xmas will be full of it
Parents desperate to get cards, I was in WHSmith last week for ME Launch & two G parents laid out 3-400 on whatever they were allowed to buy
Once again Iām at the same conclusion, FUCK YOU POKEMON – you should be looking after this better!
My dad and i collected pokemon cards back in the base set days. He was just as into it as I was! We were constantly buying packs and we would get so excited at every hit. My mom eventually threw away all of our cards. I guess she just got tired of seeing them.
In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and passed away within 6 months. Amidst the sadness and depression and trying to come to terms with everything, we found a hidden stash in his closet. A tin of sleeved pokemon cards. I opened it to find every single hit my dad and i ever got, from base set to rocket, all sleeved up!
That was the moment i decided to collect again. I donāt care about value, i donāt care about investment. I just like the reminder and nostalgia of a wonderful time my dad and i had ripping packs in the day.
I know if he were here, he would be opening packs with me. I know he would FaceTime me everytime he found product. He would save all of his hits in a binder, like he used to.
I would kill to have that time. Cherish every second.
Your dad is amazing. I recognize his excitement of being able to get his ākidā something theyāre gonna love and I feel upset that such beautiful feelings are being abused for greed.
I adore ripping packs with my 21yo son. I really bonded with him over this hobby. Itās such a nice tradition to almost ritually open an ETB each or something. Breaks my heart that people are destroying experiences like that for profit.
Sorry this happened to you both. Cherish the love you have between you š
Just tell your dad theyāre awesome and never let the truth out
Dad is the target market for these packs.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how exactly can you tell if they are fake?
