My son (9) excitedly told me he did some trades after school and showed me what he got (pictured). I don’t know a lot about Pokemon but I watch YouTube videos with him (Coop and Beard Dad mainly) and knew that if it was real it was a BOMB, and that meant a difficult conversation with my boy.
I said to him that I thought it might be worth a lot of money. He asked me how much and I said maybe £200 and he replied “I should give that back to ‘Carson’ that’s not a fair trade” I asked him if he was sad about that, he said “I’m excited for ‘Carson’ he pulled a £200 card and doesn’t even know”
He would have had every right to ball his eyes out and complain about how unfair it was but he knew the right thing to do straight away. Later I checked on him and told him I was very proud of how he dealt with it. He said Coop and Beard Dad wouldn’t keep the card and he wanted to be just like them.
The card, which has been in ‘Carson’s’ school bag all week is going back to him and a penny sleeve and top loader on Monday. And my boy has a few extra ££ to go to a local card show tomorrow.
Kids, man.
