Are random NPC dialogue in the game weird on purpose?
'I'm sick and tired of this life! I just want to smell some Pokémon'
'Go where you want, die where you must'
'Eyes! Aim for the Eyes! Those were my brother's last words….'
'When I'm upset, giving my partner poke balls a little squeeze helps'.
I hope Game Freak never get rid of these, they are too funny and makes me talk to everyone.

They could have honestly used AI generated lines and we wouldnt even know
Say what you want about the rest of the game, but the NPC dialogue is hilarious.

It’s a huge return to form. Funny and quirky dialogue like this used to be normal in the older games! I love seeing it again.
The smell Pokemon guy makes me think of a few persons I know who have cats, they sniff them to decompress or something like that, their cat wasn’t pleased though.
Weird NPCs are interesting and color the world. Non-weird NPCs are just filler. A bit of really weird dialogue adds memorable moments.
One wonders if the “Work is never more important than rest” guy is literally just a dev team self insert.

Older games often had kooky dialogue for its NPCs, and Kalos was always the gold standard for being demented from dialogue alone (aside from that one Battle Tower kid in SwSh).
The woman crashing out in the Royale after you beat her mega pidgeot is my favourite
One lady with a stall in a Wild Zone says something like “I don’t mind getting lost in the city, I’m already lost in life!”, and ain’t that just the most relatable thing, lol.

If you ever played any of the postgame battle facilities the NPCs say all sorts of goofy random stuff. There is a whole family of “aim for the eyes” trainers across multiple games.
There is a Battle Tower trainer in BDSP who says “oof.. I felt your finishing shot”
Does that man’s Emolga still want to shock that woman’s Dedenne?
I mean, they are called ‚Game Freak‘ and not ‚Game Sane‘ for a reason 😀
And yeah, some of those blurbs are either really funny or very relatable 🙂
