Mega Raichu X's shiny was based on his Gen 2 shiny sprite which was Silver, Black, and Gold Yellow. I going to originally design it as its current shiny (Which has been desaturated to the Distortion World and back), but then I remembered Silver tailed Raichu, and since X is mostly drawing attention to its tails, I thought it'd be cool to make it this instead. And when it's using electricity, I think the tails would completely white.
Mega Raichu Y was also based on Pikachu's Gen 2 shiny sprite, which was Orange ish and Purple. Though, I couldn't find the right shade of orange. Because it only had 2 colors and Mega Y had 3, I didn't know what color to add on the tail extension and the bottom part of the horns, but I think white was good.
I really hope the official shiny's are good. And hopefully not desaturated.
