Is the swirl normal?



I was looking through some of my cards and noticed this really cool swirl on this charmander ToysRus promo. I thought that was a really cool place for a swirl and thought it was intended to be there, but looking online I couldn’t really tell based on the pictures. Is this swirl normally on the card or is it random?

    Incredible swirl placement! That card is a gem. I’d love to have it.

    I also hope those scratches are almost entirely the toploader and sleeve and not the holo itself.

    That is called an HD swirl. Very rare swirl in Cosmo holo pattern. If you find holo energies from 151 with this you can sell for $20 or so. I’d imagine on an already rare card this would be quite valuable. Check ebay for sold listings to try to get an idea of value

    Ignore anyone talking down on swirls. They’ve been part of Pokémon cards since day one. People love to claim they don’t add value, but they absolutely do. Some matter more than others, and placement plays a big role. On this card, the swirl sits right by its mouth, which definitely boosts its value. There are plenty of swirl collectors who will always pay a premium for a good swirl.
