I personally thought that Mega Beedrill could’ve been inspired by a Star Wars-type ship. Like I noticed how the Beedrill head almost looks like a pilot in the cockpit of a backwards Naboo Starfighter. Baxcalibur is said to have the design of an actor playing Godzilla, with the red claws being reminiscent of the fake claws on old Godzilla costumes. I also love the lore theory that Machamp and Golem look how they do because they take traits of Graveler and Machoke when traded to evolve them. Also there’s Girafarig’s second head, how the design was originally like two ghosts connected to each other that became Girafarig. I also remember a voodoo doll pokemon in the beta sprites that I think became Babette eventually. I love the subtle hints of where the artists were going with their designs when they first made a Pokemon. Let me know what you think!
