In the end, it’s a free reward, so either way you want to do it. But the rewards last time were so mediocre, I don’t really know how a feature that almost gives you nothing once per week is something that is worth development time.

Just finished it now and didn’t get locked. Had a guy in my group who I wasn’t friends with and it said if I add him we immediately go to friendship level 2.
