this article is annoying don’t read it. they added a character that the author finds annoying that’s the “addition”

Obviously the talking sidekicks are going to be divisive. I think it’ll depend whether they go through the whole game or just one section.

Am very much looking forward to this game.
The only annoying/disappointing thing leading up to the release for me is that MP2 and 3 weren’t re-released prior to get it all together on the switch/2. Other than that, can’t wait for it, although I won’t be getting it immediately as I have yet to get a switch 2.

Just by the title I can tell the article is garbage

While I understand where he is coming from, I also welcome the addition of more characters, I mean I get Metroid is about isolation but as the hours go by, it can get a bit too … Isolated, especially when you are getting more powerful and the plot slows down for the sake of exploration. Now, it can be a double edge sword because well, we all saw what happened in Other M but having someone else to be in contact with while still exploring dangerous lands is not something that worries me that much, and this is based in the first few hours, for all we know, they may disappear entirely for the rest of the game.

For those saying this writer is just complaining and that people shouldn’t take their complaints about the obnoxious character seriously, take a look at all the other previews. This specific character is called out as a potential negative in at least half of them. So, at the very least it’s a legitimate concern and may affect your enjoyment depending on what you are looking for in a Metroid game.

I didn’t have a problem with Adam in Metroid Fusion anchoring a lot of the dialogue in that game but I really dislike the idea of a character constantly pointing out what I can and can’t scan or interactables in the environment. Let me find that shit myself. It’s actually the lack of worded explanation that makes Metroid exploration especially satisfying. When they had actual Adam Malkovich in Other M constantly telling you what you could and couldn’t do because you needed his permission for certain suit functions, it did derail the whole story even beyond the actual creative choices. Metroid just doesn’t do voiced or side characters particularly well in my eyes because of how primed the series is on the feeling that you’re alone and insignificant against greater odds
Really hope he doesn’t recur past that preview point. It’d actually be funny if after that first section Sylux just comes in and guns him down to throw you off lol

“Of all the things Metroid Prime 4 could’ve been, I never would’ve guessed it would include outdated escort missions with a companion that never stops talking.”

to me the bike and open world area kinda makes me mad. there was no need for that. And it looks dumb

This reads exactly what I expected when I saw Sylux:
Retro came back and made Metroid Prime 4 for exactly where they left off, and players want Metroid Prime 1-2.
Xano74
Kinda amusing. This gets posted in other game reddit and people are condemning the character added that goes against the theme Metroid.
On the Switch sub, same post gets downvoted and people say they aren’t worried about it.
Nintendo fans will try to protect all Nintendo games.

Somewhat disappointing it will be closer to MP3 with the additional characters but as long as there are not a bunch of escort related missions, it won’t be too bad.

Oh God people gotta get over shit like this. Nintendo/Retro can’t keep making the same game. Maybe that’s why it’s called Beyond. As in, beyond the normal Metroid experience.
dampflokfreund
Oh boy, I wonder who that “annoying addition” could be.

We can only hope that character is very temporary, yeesh

Did these people even play 3?
I’m not buying it because of Mackenzie.
It’ll be perfectly fine
