Who else is still holding onto a preorder?!
If you're like me, we all preordered way back when for $47.99, the preorder has disappeared from BestBuy's website, HOWEVER the preorder has now randomly appeared inside of my app, and to my surprise it let me update my credit card to one that's valid, as well as change the address.
The address change didn't trigger any price change, but when I updated my payment method to a valid credit card, it reset the price from $47.99 > $59.99.
I chatted into Best Buy, explained that when I preordered it was one price, but when I updated my payment method to another price it updated the price.
Thank you for sharing the details. When you place a preorder, the price you pay is normally locked in at the time the order is created. Updating your payment method should not change the agreed subtotal. What likely happened here is that the system re‑authorized the order after the card update and applied the current retail price instead of the original preorder price
The good news is we can process the refund for your pre order once you receive the item, as your personal agent here I'll document this as a proof of your refund request when you reach us again. Please provide this case ID XXXXXXXX as a proof of refund amounting of $12.00.
So seems like they will honor it?
I had 2 pre-orders, so I'm going to see what happens with the other where I only updated the address. I also changed one of the pre-orders to in-store pickup thinking that might help too.
Sadly I couldn't apply the $10 Gift card I had to best buy in addition to, I'll instead use that for the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack.
