Nintendo has done really well with stock. They are loaded up everywhere, so people assume it isn’t seeking well. It is clear that the thing has been a major hit so far—Nintendo just delayed the release of the console to ensure there wouldn’t be make stock issues.

Only being 3% ahead of PS4 really drives home how big that console’s launch was in the US.

Edit: the other crazy thing from all of Piscatella’s data dump is that Final Fantasy Tactics’ second month outsold Dragon Quest’s launch on the Switch. That’s kind of crazy given the drop-off most RPGs usually experience.

Switch 2 is the hot tech this holiday season

This was also said in the Bluesky thread: “Pokémon Legends: Z-A ranked 2nd overall during October and was the month’s best-selling game on Nintendo platforms. It launched as 2025’s best-selling physical game year-to-date.”

  5. Kind of surprised. I did buy a switch 2 but nobody else I know has picked one up and I’ve heard very little discussion or advertisement surrounding it.

Edit: why are Nintendo fans the most salty of all. Gonna chalk this up to the social ineptness/young demographic of audience

Guys we get it people naysayed but you don’t have to say it every single thread no one actually cares

Let’s just hope that Nintendo starts pumping out some great titles in 2026 and beyond. I need more to play on this bad boy .

Edit: Please tell me why you are so upset about this post.

  7. I wonder, will sales stay strong for years, like the Switch? Because if so, Switch 2 might sell more than the Switch, which is hard to believe.

I’m starting to think that keeping a strong identity by not releasing your games everywhere and chasing the latest trends with live service games is doing wonders for Nintendo.

I can’t wait to see the 3rd party announcements in 2026.

And in my circle, my friends are still waiting for a new Mario or Zelda. I saw stock at Target and Wal Mart yesterday, which is awesome! I still haven’t gotten mine and hopefully I can save and get it within the next couple months. Then the library will be really strong (for a first year) and I can download the hundreds of games I already own on Switch.

But this POS underpowered tablet is trash! and Nintendo doesn’t know what they are doing! Where have I heard this before….oh yeah the Switch 1! And now, this system CAN actually run modern games decently, if the devs put effort into it, where the og Switch took minor miracles to run Doom/Witcher 3 etc.

Why is everyone so interested in sales? Are you shareholders?

It really shows how disconnected from reality a lot of the “F Nintendo” crowd is. They complain all the time about graphics and key cards which are two things the average gamer clearly cares about the least. Could they be better about this? Sure but is the average gamer gonna pressure them to be better about it? No cause it doesnt affect THEIR enjoyment of the games

I know this is the Switch subreddit but the biggest thing from this month’s Circana data is Battlefield 6 being well on its way to stomping Black Ops 7 imo.

They also have a strong lineup of games this year. Mario Kart, DK, ZA, Kirby and Metroid.

Hopefully they don’t stop pushing out things next year. They certainly have a ton of IPs they can feed people and rotate things

  15. Maybe when they make a new mainline Pokémon game I’ll pick up a SW2

  16. Lupinthrope

I don’t think I’ve touched my switch 2 in a month or so, excited for Metroid but it’s been a lackluster experience compared to switch 1.

  17. nothing_ever_dies

Why do people care about sales so much? If you’re not invested into Nintendo’s stock then why does it matter?

  18. hopsmonkey

Inventory is pretty key here I think. I see it readily in stock on the shelf everywhere I go.

  19. QuinSanguine

Well deserved, really. Every other hardware company takes gaming way too seriously and wants too much money for hardware. Even the price of some individual components to build a pc that used to be like $60 are now half the Switch 2’s price. And you can’t blame all that on ai or tariffs.

  20. FalafelBall

I feel like these sales are driven purely by the popularity of Switch 1 and not the value proposition of Switch 2. As such, I think Nintendo is waiting to release a 3D Mario until sales start to slow. Only then will I consider buying one

  21. CrossReset

The new angle Steam psychos, and it is mostly PC people in my experience, are trying is saying an 11% conversation ratio from Switch 1 to 2 is abysmal.

11% in three months without holiday….yeah keep telling yourself that….

  22. Considering it’s actually in stock everywhere, it should be outpacing the Switch. It would’ve sold SO many more units had it not had inventory issues constantly.

  23. SH4DY_XVII

And yet here I am thinking every game so far has been lukewarm dogshit…

  24. LunarWingCloud

While I am happy the Switch 2 is doing successful, I am not sure how good of comparisons these are. Switch 2 is 68% ahead of Switch 1 pace and 3% ahead of PS4 pace *now*, but Switch rapidly outpaced PS4 in later years and we don’t know what pace Switch 2 is going to be on in a few years. With such a big disparity between Switch 1 and PS4 to compare, it’s hardly even valuable data right now.

Is that sell through or sell to? Cuz sell through to consumers is very different than sales volume to retailers stocking up for holidays
