I wanna hear yalls thoughts on my starters!! I’m kinda iffy on the grass and water ones but i’ll give all the context here to help any advice or critiques y’all have
also the region is vaguely based off just my family and culture and places we’ve lived etc
Sabex – the fire goat starter. My family lived somewhere with a lot of mountain goats and goats are now my favorite animal. I based it off of the nubian ibex. There’s not much else thought there I think the design is cute but idk if it quite feels like a starter? I do have the full evo line in a notebook somewhere but alas I cannot find it. Like as it evolves there’s patches of obsidian that forms in it or something idk just trust trust. i like the idea of a fire type goat and this is better than the first 2 sketches but i still am not sold on it as a starter pokémon. And yes the red is meant to be fire but when I made it too vibrant it looked weird but now it’s too muted idk how to keep the sort of bw or xy or pixel art pokémon style and still have the details
Arval? – name is a work in progress. The water dove pokémon. It takes after the story of noah and the boat with the dove holding an olive branch signaling an end to the flood. My family is jewish doves are a huge symbol everywhere. I chose water because uhm. flood. idk. I think it will become a water fairy type later down the line and will be inspired off of a kids book called (roughly translated) Bird of the Soul where it will be a tall long elegant bird that stands on one leg and stuff idk. I don’t like the design. any critique and advice please send my way
Neden – the grass snake one. I literally had zero ideas for a grass starter. I tried so many things and this was my final first sketch and so it’s very. mediocre. it’s meant to be based off the snake from the garden of eden and the red part on its head represents the apple yk. uhh. yeah i didn’t know what to do for it and i’m 100% willing to scrap it for a better idea for a grass type starter (maybe for ideas think biblical stories and or animals native to the middle east?? idk. i tried thinking of everything i’m lost)
