I gave a shot at painting and need help with background

Please keep in mind I am not a painter (so please don’t be too brutal lol). I draw and do digital art, but I had a really rough week and am depressed. I thought I would try painting 2 of my favs with acrylics. I was going to do a scenery but I’m kind of really digging the black background it is on.
