I feel like a conspiracy theorist, but things are lining up in an interesting way and I hope this is the correct assessment.
For years The Pokemon Company has been teasing us with first person horror-style
trailers.

Sure, maybe The Pokemon Company just likes having fun with trailers. I think these may be a hint to another project that is in the works.
So who would be developing this game? Bloober Team. Bloober Team are known for their survival horror games with titles such as Layers of Fear, The Medium, Silent Hill 2 remake, and Cronos: The New Dawn.
Bloober Team has an announced but not revealed upcoming title called Project M. Project M is confirmed to be a Switch/Switch 2 exclusive game. We can safely assume Project M is a horror game given Bloober Team's previous work of nearly exclusively horror games. Bloober Team would be THE developer to choose if wanting to develop a horror game in the style of those first-person trailers on Nintendo Switch since they do have Switch experience (and apparently got Switch 2 dev kits) with developing Cronos: The New Dawn. AAA companies much bigger than Bloober Team didn't even get Switch 2 dev kits.
Why do I think Project M is Pokemon related?
Yesterday in Legends: ZA a mystery gift for Mewtwo was given out. What is the name of the side mission? Project M. In the quest you learn about how Lysandre Labs was trying to use Mewtwo as the ultimate weapon, trying to force it to mega evolve, but Mewtwo was not obedient and ran away.
I think Bloober Team is making a Mewtwo antagonist survival horror game for the Switch.
