I started playing when the game came out. I downloaded it as something to do during runs. It was MUCH more bare bones back then compared to now. I played off and on during the years. It's only real draw to me was the use of Pokemon home, being able to put Pokemon I found on walks into my games at home made them a little more special. eventually I got a little more serious about it when my daughter was old enough to go on walks with me.
I've been ftp all this time. Until last month. I got my degree, have a job where I don't guilt myself for a 10 dollar purchase. My boss plays a lot. A lot a lot. Spends 20$ a week minimum. His collection made my jaw drop when we first started talking about it.
Last month, I bought the deluxe pass, since I was playing it every day at work during lunch. I have really found myself enjoying the game more and even go on walks more often at home after work with my kids to round up any eggs that are almost there
This morning I bought the December pass. My wife gets alerts when I spend as we share an account and she handles our finances (she's way smarter and better at it than me)
She texted me "lol, I see you treated yourself, this was going to be a stocking stuffer, but enjoy your day at work" it was a poke coin gift card.
I showed my boss and he said "lemme do you a favor" took my phone and got me 3 remote raid passes. We hopped on poke genie, joined a raid together, and boom. My first 5 star raid, my first big legendary.
Mew and Mewtwo will always be the BIG legendaries to me as they were my firsts as a kid. But Kyurem as well as resh and zek are definitely peak as I've continued enjoying the hobby all these decades.
Nothing special to many, but today I became a cool kid to myself and my kids in pogo.
